| Little Boy Inside! What would I like to be If I ever should grow up? When I leave behind my boyish ways, And drink from a grown mans cup? Where finally shall I settle down, And whom must I impress? Are there any goals that I could set To insure my happiness? Oh little boy inside of me, Are the dreams that fill my mind, Above the station I will hold, Or made true with passing time? Will a little lad sit on my knee Hearing tales of yesterdays? Shall he believe a word of it? For Im still him in many ways! Does the baby girl Im rocking, While she burps on my shoulder towel, Think of me as her protector? Or a playmate mooing as a cow? When you grit your teeth and snap at me All men are just alike! They are nothing more than giant boys! Is this somehow not right? For I never feel like growing up. You saw this when we met. That awestruck boy, not man in me, How could you dear, forget? It was not till I knew your love, That I understood the master plan. I shall always be that little boy, That you turned into this man! Robert Edgar Burns,2004 Florida |
