John Higgins survived a real scare against Stephen Lee before snatching a 5-4 win to reach the semi-finals. The world number one was 4-3 down to the Trowbridge player and heading for a shock exit before pulling off breaks of 50 and 81 to win the last two frames. Lee had a chance to compile a possible match-winning break in the deciding frame but missed a long red. Higgins said: "I'm still taking two or three chances to win a frame but after winning the Masters I'm confident." | ||

Graeme Dott came from 4-2 down to beat Paul Hunter and reach his first semi-final in a ranking event. After his 5-4 victory, Dott said: "At no stage did I ever think I was going to win. But when I got back to 4-4 I thought I might have a good chance." "I know it was a scrappy game, but as long as you win it doesn't matter how unattractive the match is." "When I was playing like that I would get annoyed and ended up losing. Now, I'm out there to win anyway I can." | ||

Mark Williams lost his 14-match unbeaten record in ranking events after being being whitewashed 5-0 by an inspired Ken Doherty in the quarter-final. But Williams was annoyed at being kept waiting for over two hours after the start scheduled for 3pm. The Welshman said: "It was a disgrace. There was a spare table so why couldn't we use that one. Whoever did the scheduling got it all wrong." "I just want to forget about this tournament and get home." | ||

Stephen Hendry can look forward with optimism to his semi-final with John Higgins after an unexpectedly easy 5-1 win over Alan McManus. The former world champion plays Higgins after a display he described as "my best this week." Hendry said: "I've been very Jekyll and Hyde all week but tonight I was very happy with the way I cued. "Sometimes you just know before you go out that you are going to play well. Being back at the main table helped." | ||

Stephen Hendry reached the final after beating John Higgins 6-5 in a thrilling match which went to the final black. Hendry came from 4-1 and 5-2 down to snatch a sensational win and now plays countryman Graeme Dott in today's best of 17 frames final. And the former world champion knows he is now just one victory away from his first major title in 12 months. "You always know the hardest frame to win is the last one," said Hendry after potting the final black. | ||

Graeme Dott produced another famous upset to reach the final after ousting former world champion Ken Doherty. For the third match running the 21-year=old Glaswegian came from behind to beat his more facied opponent. Dott came from 5-4 down to beat Doherty 6-5 and said: "I still find it hard to believe what I've done. "No-one else fancied my chance today but I knew if I could keep close to Ken I could win. I've never known when I've been beaten this week. | ||

Stephen Hendry brushed aside Graeme Dott's Challenge to seal a 9-1 victory in the final which handed him a record 68th major title and a 60,000 pounds cheque. Hendry powered to an 8-0 lead after the first session and quickly wrapped up his first ranking title for 12 months when the proceedings restarted. Dott had chances during the match but his superb form of the earlier rounds sadly deserted him when it mattered. He had numerous frame-winning opportunities which slipped away.
Stephen Hendry was a relieved man after his first title win since last March and revealed: "I'd almost forgoten what it was like to be a winner." | ||
