He was my friend and companion
Always there with a cheerful disposition
And a sparkle in his eye
Ready to play at a moments notice
Or just listen to me cry
He was there to welcome me home
And miss me when I was away
Just waiting for a sign of approval
When he wanted to play
Wiggling from head to tail
With just my simple �Okay�
He was there to alarm me
Whenever anyone came close
Never leaving my side
Went I needed him most
He waited so patiently
As I went about my business
Never complaining or making a fuss
Or getting in the way
He was my friend and my companion
And will be sorely missed
For he has gone to join the others
Who have previously gone away
