| Despite sweeping the Lake Geneva Grand Finale in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Blair Morgan could not overcome Tucker Hibbert's points leads in Pro Stock and Pro Open. Hibbert entered the event with a 23-point lead in Pro Stock and a 25-point margin in Pro Open. Both looked good in Pro Open qualifying, with both racers advancing undefeated. In Pro Stock, however, it was a different story, as Hibbert finished fourth and eighth in his heats and barely made it to the LCQ. He did advance to the final, though he had to start from the back row. Heading into the Pro Stock final, Hibbert needed to net at least a seventh place finish to lock up the season title. D.J. Eckstrom got the holeshot off the start on his Amsoil Ski-Doo, but a slipping chain eventually cost him the lead. Hibbert was stuck in 11th place, but managed to work his way up. He got around Carl Kuster for 10th, then quickly moved to ninth. By the time the race was over, Hibbert had moved up to sixth, ensuring his points title. Morgan took the bittersweet win, with Tomi Ahmasalo in second and Polaris riding Noel Kohanski moving to third. The Pro Open start mimicked Pro Stock, with Eckstrom again getting the jump in front of Kohanski, Kurt Crapo, Ahmasalo and Morgan. As Hibbert and Todd Wolff plummeted down Genevas big drop and the two got together. By the time the mess was sorted, Hibbert was sitting in 13th. Morgan went on the attack and moved up. Then a bobble dropped him back to fourth. He pressed on and blew past Crapo on the uphill, then ducked under Kohanski for second! The Canadian then set his sights on Eckstrom. He got by the Duluth, Minnesota, rider by doubling over huge holes on Geneva's second downhill. Eckstrom held on for second, with Ahmasalo third. |
