I got my start when I was 14 years old. I had an accident, at a friend's house while goofing off, and ended up with a cut on the inside of my right ankle that took 13 stitches to close. After I got out of the emergency room I was taken to my parents, who were attending a dance at an organization they were members of. My parents had bought a set of Technics SL 300 turntables and a Radio Shack/Realistic mixer. That, together with the amp and speakers from their home stereo, was what they used to DJ the dances they attended. While I sat, completely bored out of my skull, I noticed they werent really getting a chance to get out and have fun together. I figured that if someone has to be behind the table housing the equipment then it might as well be me and my parents can have fun at these dances they attend. So after a crash course on working the equipment and my dad standing behind me for a few songs......a DJ was born. I started going with my parents to these dances and working to let them have fun(that and I didnt like the alternative of a babysitter)After that brief stint(the organisation stopped having dances) I hooked up with Kenny Blanchard(owner)and Gordon Vinning(DJ Flash) of Ultra Sound Systems. I started doing weddings and school dances with these guys. Kenny had just purchased a set of Denon 2000 pitch controlled cd players which Flash (experienced with mixing on tables) had just started to learn to work. I had very little experience with mixing at all but I gave it a shot...finally...I found something that Im good at and doesnt bore me. Flash and I started working at Daquiri's and Company(which was fun and went well) and a little place in Berwick (I wont say any names because these assholes dont deserve advertisement from me)and before long we were taking Tampico's After Dark's customers away from them and trying to fit them all in a place less than a 1/4 the size. After we drew the crowd to the place the assholes decided they wanted to let us go (they actually just thought their bar attracted these people) and so I decided to go and bug the DJ at Tampico's (Daniel Solar) to let me play. It took a couple of times (and I think a night that he was really bored) for him to let me play. A couple of months later he and I were co-residents. I still played for Kenny's weekend bookings during the day while playing at 'Pico's Wednesday's and weekend nights. The last few months of my 'Pico's run I was approached by the manager of an afterhours club in Franklin called America's Sports Bar. This place started the DJ at 11:30pm and went till whatever time...the problem was the DJ that was there couldnt keep people in the place past 3:30am. People would drive 30 minutes just to get there and leave 30 minutes later. So my good friend Lou (DJ Hypnotic)would start the night and I would head over after I got off at 'Pico's and get there about 2:30am....play a couple hours and then afterwards alternate with Hypnotic while we split the money. I had never had an experience like this before. I'd play from 9pm to 2am at 'Pico's and then head to America's and sometimes not walk out till 8 or 9 am. Needless to say the owner and manager of America's definately liked us. A couple of months later Lou (who had a real job) couldnt do this anymore and told me he had to give it up. I gave 'Pico's my notice and strictly did America's...for about 2 and a half to 3 years until....well....lets just say it was time to go... Ive held residency at Peppers Night Club in berwick and Morgan City's first, only, and last afterhours club The Attic. I have also been known to do many a guest spot at Last Call with resident Devil On Ice and the now closed Area 51 afterhours club with residents Devil On Ice and DeeJay Flash in Thibodeaux. And now that they have shut everything resembling a club (with the exception of Tampico's After Dark because its attached to a restaurant)in the Morgan City area, Ive moved my residency to THE MAXX in Metairie spinning along side of Dr. Souss on Friday nights.

UPDATE: Well another chapter in my DJ career has been closed....it seems the Maxx has shut down, however, a new chapter has opened in the form of a familiar face......Ive just been asked back as the resident DJ at Tampico's After Dark Club on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday...so we will see how that goes.
