The fact that the particles left tracks means
that they must be charged. Also they come to a stop in the electron-photon
detector. This suggests that they are electrons - in fact an electron and
a positron (antielectron).

positron shooting off in opposite directions to deposit all their energy in the
layer that detects electrons and photons: the electromagnetic calorimeter
