Some views, like this, will show
the apparatus viewed from one end. This is like a "beam’s-eye view" of the
experiment. You can see the different layers clearly here. The collisions that
produce the tracks occur at the centre.
Other views will show a side view
of the apparatus. In this case the colliding beams have come in from the left
and from the right. Again the collisions occur at the centre.
