Scouting Report: Jeff Hoose is probably best described as the “Iron Horse” of the SNMFC having played some of the roughest and toughest positions in every SNMFC contest over the league’s storied seven-year history. His consecutive games played streak appeared in jeopardy when “Jiblet Jam VI: Me and My Family Are Looking For Sex,” rolled around last year and Hoose was still in Los Angeles. But just when all hope seemed lost, Hoose arrived at Hill & Plain field sporting a mask and doing the “Lindy Hop” leading onlookers to believe that the game’s rumored mysterious player was indeed long-lost SNMFC-er Marc Gambone. However, once the mask was ripped off, in what can only be described as a performance on par with a WWE wrestler entering the ring, it was evident that “The Hoose Had Come Back To New Milford.”
On offense Jeff often lines up as either a blocker in goal line running plays or as a short-yardage receiver who is unafraid to go over the middle to catch a 3-yard pass and pick up the much-needed second reception for a first down. Hoose sports a thin frame for a man of 6’ 3” and thus Jeff has often had the unenviable task of lining up to cover the opposing squad’s “big man” on defense. Although the SNMFC keeps no official stats, it is widely assumed that Hoose is among the league leaders every season in tackles and receptions under five yards.
Hoose's "love of the game" is unsurpassed as he lives and breathes pickup football. His recent ascension to the rank of SNMFC commissioner should keep the league alive and well for years to come. - B. Durand
