This show has been aired since October 11, 1975 and has been the highest rated show since 1977. It airs every Saturday at 11*30pm on the East Coast. The season usually starts mid-september and ends in mid-may producing an estimate of 20 shows per season.
The show surprised many people because it was the first of its kind - Live sketch comedy. Many thought that the show wasn't live because it wasnt something shows thought of in the 70's.
What can we say?? The producer, Lorne Michaels, had a great idea which society agreed with. It was originally called "NBC's Saturday Night" , but i hafta say...i think i like Saturday Night Live better....it has a nice ring to it ;)
