| First, Kasumi and I went to Value Ciry and Goodwill stores to look for something to make the basic coat and pants with. We were out of luck, and didn't find anything at all for neither Satan nor her partnering Harpy. Actually, we found a jacket, but didn't want to get it unless we could find some matching pants. Later on, I think it was about a week after the first trip, we went again, this time with the help of our friend, Joe, who likes Power Rangers. He actually pointed out a good jacket, and Kasumi found the pants. I did basically nothing except for forking over $22 for them combined, after trying them on. Embarassingly, we got women's pants... This was still late Februrary, or, most likely, early March, so we still have not put much thought into the costumes yet. Near the end of March, Kasumi and I went to JoAnne Fabrics to look for some cape material. We found some awesome blue silky stuff, but for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was called. I think it had the word "silk" in it, but it was something like, a silk wanna-be... Anyways, we bought that and some purple, too, for that shouldery thing that appears to go over the cape. Atleast, we're going to make it over the cape! Another wait, and in early April, we go back to JoAnne's. This time we are looking for some yellow cording to go around the outside of the jacket and stuff as lining. We found a really cool gold swirly cording, and I bought it, along with some tacky glue to attach it to the coat, which proved to be an extremely good idea. We also bought some felt squares so that we could sew up some plushie puyo for no reason at all. That night, I came home in a costume hype and glued the three yards of cording to my jacket. To Kasumi's misjudgement, three yards was definately not enough, probably only half of what I really needed. Either way, the cording looked really good, and I was really excited. I showed Kasumi a few days later, and she agreed that it was extremely cool looking. I went with Musashi to Toys R Us to buy Beyblades and Pokemon Cards on sale, and before we went, we stopped by JoAnne's again to get more cording. I didn't plan ahead, so I didn't have the little scrap from the last cording. They had two colors, and I had no idea which I had used before. I guessed, looking at the color of the tips where they were cut, remembering mine had a gold tint rather than a green tint, and bought the golden color. I took the new three yards home, and I checked; luckily I had bought the right shade. Later that week, Kasumi, Ditto, and Ditto's boyfriend Danny came over and saw the cording I had done on the costume. They all thought it looked good, and my dad didn't understand what was going on when I showed him. So, at this point, we had spent a month doing basically nothing, and we were so amazed that some string was glued to a purple jacket. Later that night, Kasumi and I finally decided to get something done. We rented three videos (Sailor Moon S, Pokemon, and Zenon, which was ment to give us that cheesey-funny feel like Lunch Wagon), and we were going to sew. We watched Pokemon while holding fabric. Then we realised that we had done nothing, and turned off the TV. I started to self-stitch a hem to the cape, and Kasumi attempted to sew a puyo, which came out really funny-shaped, kinda like a cloud or something; it was kinda lumpy. Kasumi managed to borrow her friend's sewing machine, so I was just going to glue down the fabric and then sew up a line for the hem, which was good enough for me, especially since it's only a cape. We didn't do ANYTHING for a long time, and with only two weeks before ACen 2003, I bought some crappy hair gel that also colors your hair with Kasumi. Surprisingly, we found some at Meijer after finding NOTHING at Target. I'm hoping the hair glue will work okay, I'm slicking my hair back anyway, so it'll keep hold better, and I can brush through it like 5000 times afterwords, too. About a week before ACen, Kasumi and I went to Joann's and restocked on MORE cording for the purple thing on the top. Then I finally cut out the purple thing and attached the cape to the coat. Then I started to put the cording on the purple thing, but took a break. The Sunday before ACen, I finished the cording on the purple thing. This was about all I had left to do, so the costume was basically finished. I cut out a piece of white material to use for the white thing, and then I was finally done. I tried on the costume and it looked great. |
