MS USDAA (Entry for July 30, 2007)
I got up at 4 am Friday morning to drive to Hattiesburg, MS for the Dog Gone Fun USDAA agility trial.  Red was entered in everything but pairs, and Sniper was entered in 2-3 runs a day also.  I entered Sniper because he still loves to run agility and because if Red decided he didn't want to play agility I could still have some good runs with Sniper and not feel that the weekend was a total waste.  I got to stay with Tracey in her new RV for the first time, and it was wonderful.  It's a good thing we brought mostly small dogs, because we had 2 people and 6 dogs in there.  It was so nice not having to drag our exhausted selves to a hotel half an hour away each night and then lug everything back to the show site the next day.

Red was great on Friday.  He had one of those "oh-so-close" gamblers runs where the dog has enough opening points and completes the gamble, but unfortuately doesn't make it in time.  Red also had a beautiful snookers run, earning his first "real" (non-pairs) agility Q.   Sniper was entered just for fun, so I got him all worked up before his courses and let him run fast and wild.  This resulted in us getting off-courses and therefor eliminations, but Sniper was flying around the courses with a big doggy grin on his face, so I just let him be out of control.  At the end of the day, dog agility should be fun, and Sniper was sure having fun.

Red reverted to his old ways on Saturday.  I ended up taking him off of most of his courses for playing the "you-can't-touch-me" game.  He even threw in a perch on top of the Aframe.  Sniper got a Snooker Q and almost got a standard Q.  As Sniper was getting ready to jump onto the table, I yelled down, thinking Sniper would jump onto the table and then lay down.  But instead Sniper folded his legs and dropped right in front of the table, practically under it.  We went on to finish the course cleanly and under time, with only a 5 fault refusal at the table.  Stupid hander.

Red looked like an agility dog again on Sunday.  He had three nice runs and even got his first gamblers Q!  Sniper picked up a jumpers Q also.

Next weekend is an obedience trial, where Red will hopefully get his CD.
