Two Trial Update (Entry for April 23, 2007)
April 6-8 was the LCCOC agility trial.  Red was entered in both Standard and Jumpers both Saturday and Sunday, which was Easter.  Red acted about how we've all come to expect.  He would act like he's never seen an agility obstacle most of the time and then run a nice sequence looking like a real agility dog part of the time.

April 19-22 was the Dog Gone Fun USDAA agility trial in Tylertown, MS.  I went Saturday and Sunday and camped on-site in Tracey's tent Saturday night.  Masters Gamblers was the first thing on Saturday morning.  The gamble was nasty, with two set of weave poles making the dog weave away from the handler and an evilly placed jump stoppping the handler from calling the dog all the way back to them and sending them out again for the second set of weave poles.  Sniper had one of his fits of pain of lameness at the beginning of the week, so I was actually resigned to the idea that I would have to scratch him.  But when we got to the show Saturday he was ready to run!  He was running like crazy during the opening, making huge turns that looked like he was about to bolt out of the ring and taking obstacles I didn't tell him to.  But at the end of the 35 second opening he was still with me and had accumulated enough points despite the fact that we didn't run my planned course.  And...Sniper got the gamble!!!!  ADCH!!!!  We got one of those coveted big ADCH ribbons and Tracy had made us a beautiful ADCH jump pole with Sniper's name on it and everything.

Red did better than usual.  He was actually working the courses for the first time at a show.  There were some nice runs, like the one where he did a gamble and was only 2 points shy in the opening and a 30 pt snooker run.  I think he realized when Sniper got his ADCH that Sniper is retiring and that Red has to step up and be my agility dog.  We still have issues with the Aframe and weave poles at shows, though.
