Sniper's on the Injured List Again (Entry for November 17, 2006)
I took the dogs out to the agility field to practice today. I brought Red out first and worked on tightening up his turns without shutting him down. I would do some nice easy sequences, then do a sharp turn and praise him like he did something amazing. He does pinwheels pretty nicely now, but 180s still make him stop in his tracks and worried.
Then I pulled out Sniper and set him up in front of the jumps. As soon as I released him I could see that he wasn't himself. He took two jumps and then started walking. So I put him up and worked with Red on weave poles. Now Sniper's been doing pretty well since that pain and lameness incident at the Pensacola trial. There have been a couple of times when I noticed he was a little stiff and reluctant to get up, but he doesn't seem to be in too much pain. But he had a really bad day today. After we got home from agility he was laying on the couch and I noticed that he wasn't sleeping. He was lying awkwardly and shaking. I made him get up to see what was wrong, and he yelped as he got up. While he stood there and I checked him over for injuries he was wimpering softly. He has seemed pretty painful all day, so tomorrow we are going to the vet. 2006-11-19 21:35:19 GMT
