Body Language IS Important (Entry for October 18, 2006)
Yesterday at agility class Nedra had us all try an experiment with our dogs.  We had to run an agility course silently with our hands behind our backs.  The dogs got no commands or signals at all.  Red was a little slow and hesitant because he didn't know what I wanted, but he was heading to and pulling off obstacles just because I turned my shoulders one way or another.  I was amazed that the dogs knew what we wanted and ran the course well.  I never realized just how much an agility dog is cued simply by the handler's body.  It was a real eye-opener for me.

After class I worked Red on fast weave pole and Aframes for a while.

It's rainy and yucky outside again today, so the dogs don't get to do any fun stuff.
