The Lightbulb Above Red's Head Goes On (Entry for September 20, 2006)
Yesterday was agility class night, and it was a perfect day for agility.  It was the first nice cool day where the people didn't get sweaty and miserable and the dogs could actually run more than a course without being wiped out.  Red did great!  We had some miscommunication on some rear crosses, but he actually looked like an agility dog.

I think there is this magic lightbulb-over-the-head-going-on moment when a dog stops viewing it as individual obstacles and realizes agility is doing the course.  You can always tell when a dog has that "ah-ha!" moment, because everything suddenly seems to come together and you can see that teamwork between the owner and dog.  Red is so close to that epiphany.  Maybe he's got it.  I'm not sure.  All I know is that last night was the first night I was able to stop thinking about how to get Red to do agility and started strategizing the course like I would for Sniper.  It was great.
