Yay! New Classes! (Entry for September 9, 2006)
The LCCOC started new sessions of all the classes this week. Red is in Nedra's agility class on Tuesday night now. It's been a pretty long time since I've gone to the structured agility classes with a bunch of people and dogs. Red did pretty well despite the other dogs, but I was disappointed to see that his weave poles have slowed down. He used to actually look like a high drive border collie as he charged through them, but he just sort of walked through them in class. *Sigh* I guess that's what I get for not practicing with him. A new session of obedience classes started Thursday night, so I took advantage of the fact that there were lots of dogs gathered in one place only a few minutes from my house. I just took Red out and did a couple of stays and heeling patterns around the classes. Maybe I'll stay next week and see if I can get someone to work Novice with me.
Today I took the dogs out to the agility field to work on Red's weave poles. I pulled out his favorite toy, that stupid little squeaky red plastic pacifier that Red obsesses over. It's so funny because he couldn't care less about any other toy, but if you squeak that red pacifier he is completely focused on it. By the end of our practicing Red was flying through the poles again, but he missed his entry a few times. We'll work on that next time. I noticed poor Sniper is hardly ever mentioned in the blog, mainly because he know everything and so I never really work with him. When we went to the agility field I worked with Sniper on weave pole speed and performing the teeter at a distance, because I notice he tends to hop off the side when I'm too far behind him. I had to pull out of the USDAA trial in Shreveport next weekend, so I am definitely going to the Pensacola trial now. Red has an obedience match tomorrow, and HE'D BETTER STAY THIS TIME! 2006-09-10 02:30:45 GMT
