About Sparrow (Entry for July 22, 2006)
OK, I finally have time to sit down and post about the puppy I have.  The vet tech at our clinic who rescued her named her Sparrow.  She already responds to the name, so Sparrow she is.  I tried calling her other things, but she obviously already knows her name.  It's an okay name, and I can always pretend that she is Sparrow after Capt. Jack Sparrow.

Sparrow is a very very good puppy.  She is already practically house-trained.  She will not potty in a kennel ever.  She doesn't poop in the house, but when she gets really worked up about something she will pee.

I think Sparrow might be older than we thought.  She doesn't act like an 8 week old puppy.  She sleeps all the way through the night and everything.

Sparrow will make an awesome agility dog.  She is already fast, running and jumping in the back yard with Sniper and Red and almost keeping up.

If I manage to find the perfect home, I'll give Sparrow away.  I really don't need to be raising a puppy when the school year start.  I must admit though, I'm not working very hard at finding her a home.  I'm actually hoping I don't.  I've already gotten too attached.

It's weird, I haven't had a puppy in 5 years.  Red was already past the puppy stage when I got him.  I'm going to have to remember to socialize socialize socialize this one.   Email with any puppy training tips I might need to know.  I've been doing baby recalls, crouching on the ground and clapping my hands and then making a big fuss over Sparrow when she runs over.  She's very bright, she learned sit in 3 little a couple of minutes long training sessions.
