OK, I know I haven't blogged about doing any dog training for a week now. Red's pads finally healed up enough for vigorous activity a couple of days ago, so I brought the dogs to the park and let them run in the woods and swim in the creek for a while. When I call the dogs, Sniper comes running over and Red is way behind because he is, of course, limping. He ripped chunks out of both of his front carpal paw pads. Arggg....that is so frustrating. So I talked to the vet and ordered a product called Paw Wax that claims to "help prevent paw damage from gravel, asphalt, ice, hot pavement, and all hard surfaces" and "provide grip on slippery surfaces". It probably doesn't work as well as the Paw Wax people would make it seem, but I'm willing to try anything at this point. It is ridiculous that Red comes home with cracked bloody feet every time he runs, even on grass.
