RYAN ADAMS, GLASGOW BARROWLAND, 25TH NOVEMBER 2003
Had coffee, a bit of toast and some soup and started writing Gary�s letter. Texted Kenny about tonight. Watched �The Wright Stuff� then went to the PO in Byres Rd and copied a couple of tapes covers and posted something. Bought some food in Safeway. 2 croissants and a packet of nuts. Rang Kenny at home and hid dad said he was in the bath, but he rang back a little later and we arranged to meet later on. Checked out the new TV Choice which I�d just bought and listened to some tunes. Walked into town in the PM and looked round shops, etc. The usual. Had some chips and ate them in the St Enoch Centre. Went to the Horseshoe and it was mobbed cause there was a big Celtic game on later. James L was in, sitting at the bar so I had 4 pints with him and chatted. Michael was in too with 2 of his workmates but we just said hello. Then I went to the Chrystal Bell, where I was meant to meet Kenny, but it was shut for some reason so I went to the Tollbooth and had a pint in there. The football was just starting and some old drunk guy was talking shit to me. Went over the road and met Kenny outside the Chrystal Bell. We went to MacKinnons, I think, for a drink. Kenny wasn�t drinking after a heavy weekend. The place was dead. Then we went to the Barras and got in free cause of Kenny�s contacts. I got some drinks from the bar and we watched Ryan Adams. Really good. He put a Celtic top on someone threw at the stage which part of the crowd loved and part of the crowd hated. He took it off when a roadie explained his �mistake�. It was mainly new songs, but with an acoustic version of �New York New York� and he opened with a slow version of �Firecracker�, during which he played tambourine. Kenny left about halfway through to get home. Said he�d call me soon for a pre-Christmas piss-up. Afterwards, I walked to get a subway. These 2 guys were talking to me about �Bo Selecta!� as I was walking towards St Enochs! Got a subway home. Was in at 11.55pm. I�d had 2 or 3 ciders at the gig.
