Matrix is that film that everyone is talking about, but that thing that no one could explain you ...

We're in 1999. Neo is the nickname for a young man with a double life (Reeves). He's a programmer from an important software company but he's also a hacker who sells the designs of the same software to his company and to others who pay the prize. He's surfing on internet when a misterious message turns his life into mess, it is from Trinity (Moss), a misterious woman who wants to warn Neo of the people who's chasing him. He inmediatly thinks about the hacking... anything further from the real reason. All turns foggy. Neo starts to experience amazing situations in which don't know if he's awake or dreaming, if he's alive or dead.

There's something waiting for you Neo, and it will find you...

Trinity drives him to Morpheus, one of the most dangerous terrorists in the bussiness. Neo's terryfied, but he also wants answers, so decides to continue until the end. Although the film is packed of special effects (absolutely incredible) the acting is excellent. Reeves plays the best of his career, making possible the fusion between the spectator and the main caracter. Moss has also impacted the public&critics who are still asking "Who's that girl?" Perhaps the best are those points of view, very good work with the cameras, the W. brothers really know how to make sense; Matrix could be said an animated comic, it has the same exciting structure, in which action, shadows&lights are mixed in.

Don't miss the importance of little details too; for example, the references to Carrol's masterpiece Alice in Wonderland, or icons taken form The Bible. Thomas was the saint who said he won't believe till he see it. Anderson means 'son of man' . Neo, means 'new' in latin, but also can be read 'one', The One. Morpheus was the greek god of dreams. And Trinity of course, is the Holy Trinity, who takes 'the son of man' to 'The Great Father', Morpheus. Cypher means 'zero' but also could came from 'Lucypher'. The name of the resistance's ship is Nebunchadnezzar, who's also the name of a Babilonian king famous for his wisdom.

As Morpheus explained to Neo, the film has a message; but The Matrix isn't an answer, it is a question. Who are we? Where do we came from? Where are we going to? Morpheus takes Neo to the future, with all his crew. He trains him in martial arts and all he needs to survive in the new world, how to fight with the enemies of the resistance.

Morpheus shows him this new world, consequence of the world of 1999. Neo turns disenchanted, the new world is full of ignorant people who live their lives as batteries and fuel to the IAs and superengines, now they use the humans that have used them since the Industrial Revolution. The human heart produces energy. In the future, machines will eat us, the same as we eat tomatoes.

In the new world, the people live an unreal life, they think they're happy that way, they think they can live with material things, into theirselves, into their empty mind&soul. Outside, the enviromment is absolutely destroyed; but they still see a blue sky with their blind, silly eyes. Only a few know the truth; and Neo, as a free spirit, is the new savior for a corrupted mankind. Matrix is an astonishing metaphore, a dark vision of the society of the future, a beautiful story of fighting for freedom; The best science-fiction film since Blade Runner, twenty years after, a new myth has born. Matrix is only a purpose, the real answer is in ourselves.
