Cheri was caught by Animal Control. They said they had been trying to catch her for a long time.
ACO said that she had been running the streets in one part of town for a year that they knew of,
but they could just never catch her. They also said that this is her third litter of pups they
know of. Our Shelter Manager told us we could only keep three of the pups, but Cheri and the
others had to be put to sleep because they were Pit Bulls. We went to our Executive Director
for help. Not only did she grant us the Rescue of the 3 pups, but also the rest of the litter
and Cheri. She also said she wanted them to be adopted out through the Shelter's Adoption facilities.
We know our Shelter Manager does not like Pit Bulls or Pit Mixes so this was going to be a bomb to her.
After we were granted Rescue of Cheri and her Pups and credit for the rescue, other employees started
offering their help to our Rescue that we are trying to start. It is going to be called Tri County
Pit Rescue. My brother and I are the founders of the Rescue. Cheri is our 5th Rescue unless you
count her 10 pups, then that brings our count to 15. She had 13 pups but 3 died. Her pups will be up
for Adoption as soon as they are old enough. My brother and I already found two that we may keep. LOL.
Cheri is currently being treated for mange from fleas from running loose for so long.
