Outcast
November, 2000
Disliked by many, by few respected,
Despised, detested, rebuked, and rejected,
Suffering emotional and physical pain,
Wronged by those still considered humane.

Befriended before, now long forgotten,
Treated like a leper whose skin is rotten,
Year after year, daily discriminated,
Abhorred, avoided, loathed, always hated.

Not treated well, though almost the same,
With only modern society to blame,
Happiness thrown away with the past,
Now depression remains with this lonely outcast.
