Unable to secure a job in the IT field with only my Associates degree I forged on to secure my Bachelors, and hopefully this job. At the time of this biography I am currently employed at Sheetz inc. as a facilities worker (just until I get through college). I am ready to start my career in the field I find intriguing and love. Some of my best skills would be, Programming, Troubleshooting, and attention to detail. I also possess skills and understand other aspects of the field such as database querying, project management, web design and much more. Goals During my experiences with SNHU I learned many important parts of the IT field of study. All this newly accumulated knowledge has carried me further toward my goals of working in the IT field. I had already taken many C++ classes before taking a course on the Python and Java programming languages for the first time while at SNHU. Most programming languages that I have taken are basically the same setup just with much different syntax. Learning a new syntax and working with different problems has increased my skills in programming and software design. During my time at SNHU I took a course explaining how the pieces of the computer work together and communicate which provides a deeper understanding and better ability to troubleshoot the various problems that occur. By having a greater attention to detail I found completing my classwork was easier to complete and I needed less assistance from teachers and classmates. Not to mention fully understanding any Information Technology related laws, rules, ethics, and policies that may apply to certain situations that can occur. It was created 10/23/2017 for my IT-145 Java course final project. The purpose of the item was to authenticate and authorize users with the proper credentials to access the “system” while keeping unauthorized users out. This artifact demonstrates that I can analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions. It demonstrates this because it works, it keeps unauthorized individuals out of the system and will not let them in if the proper credentials are not provided. It has a few improvements that could be made but what alpha program does not? What knowledge, skills, dispositions, or abilities did you need to demonstrate competency with when creating this artifact? This artifact demonstrates that I understand the language, syntax, and logic of the code. I possess patience, an understanding of naming best practices, like camelCase, and logical thinking which allows me to write good code. I am organized which helps navigate the code while testing and fixing bugs and errors. This item was selected because of my love for coding and I got the best grade on this project. I felt it was the best suited example to demonstrate my ability to analyze and solve IT related problems. Specifically, the main loop of the program and how it is logically set up demonstrate my coding skills and how I put them to good use. I learned that I enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of coding while creating this artifact and that I would like to do this for more than just fun. While developing this code I was faced with a few logic bugs and some syntax errors, but I overcame these problems to create this fully armed and operational code. If I were asked to recreate this code now after a few years of learning more, I would change some of the presentation of the main loop of the program. The logout option gave me a bit of trouble with the current setup that I have, and I would change things around to make that fit better. Perhaps having a different menu system and different prompts. This course and project have set me up in the real world by teaching me Java and its mechanics, showed me its possibilities for application development, and challenged me in ways few other things do which I love. The purpose of these items was to simulate being part of a project and to learn the steps of the project life cycle and the different ways to go about managing a project. The original purpose of the documents was to simulate being part of or managing a project from start to finish.             These documents demonstrate my ability to communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts because documenting is a large part of IT work, especially projects, and this was a lot of documentation about various parts of this project. I needed to demonstrate my knowledge of the project life cycle and how each step was managed. I learned that there are many methodology architectures used to complete different projects and some fit better depending on the situation. I learned about risk management and mitigation strategies, verifying if the project is working or not, and that even if mistakes were made it will be a learning experience for future projects. I chose this item because I believe it demonstrates my ability to communicate and document Information Technology related material. Both the documents showcase my ability to communicate effectively.             I learned about the way projects are managed and their lifecycle from proposal to post-mortem. I also learned that it is much cheaper to outsource for your database than to maintain your own. Using a IaaS and VPNaaS is a much more cost efficient option for companies. I faced many challenges during these courses, many involved researching companies to fit the bill for the company since Parentune.com is based in India and many company details were not published for anyone to see. If I had to remake this artifact, I would have tried to find more examples of a real company that uses IaaS and VPNaaS providers and found more test results to use as results for my test scenarios. Some challenges I faced were, learning MS Project and how to use it effectively since I was new to the project concept at the time. We had to use MS Project to change the GAANT chart and make sure it all added up in the end.
