Shubarna Bose

Smt. Shubarna Bose is a dancer par excellence.She was born in a family of musicians in India.Granddaughter of Late. Paresh Chandra Mitra, a renouned Dhrupadist,and daughter of Sh.Subhas Dutta and Smt.Reba Dutta ,both prominent vocalists,she grew up in an environment full of musical notes.Her sister,Smt.Sharbani Pal is also a vocalist to reckon with. Shubarna trained in Odissi dance since the tender age of four under the eminent Guru, Sri Mayadhar Raut, recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy Award and many other prestigious awards.She remained a student at the Sri Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi and did her DPA in Performing Arts in Odissi Dance from the Khairagarh University ,MP.She started training students at the Indian Cultural Centre, Jakarta,Indonesia,Under the kind patronage of The Ambassador of India to Indonesia,Sri V C Khanna from the year 1985 to 1988.But soon choreography caught hold of her than the actual dance forms.
Shubarna is married to Sri Ashim Kumar Bose ,Manager for Industrial Equipments and projects at the Dan International,Oman and is at present settled in Muscat where she is continuing to train students inOdissi and the Creative style of dance.She has a beautiful daughter called Snehangshi who is also a promising young dancer. Shubarna's desciples have given full fledged Odissi recitals both in India as well as abroad which were highly appreciated by the press.
