How can Mad Cow Disease affect me?
Yes.  Humans CAN get Mad Cow Disease.  But cases like this are extremely rare-- the number of human deaths from BSE are so low that they are unrecorded.  The only mass deaths from BSE have occured in European cattle-- more than 160,000 in Great Britain alone.  But don't worry.  Cows don't face extinction!!!
Neither do humans.
Or you.
Rumours of this misunderstanded disease can lead people to become complete vegetarians, or kill large amounts of cattle.  BSE can't be prevented.  At all.  Humans are at the top of the food chain.  We should eat meat.  Some paranoid lunatics out there are just trying to scare you.
Just don't worry.
Mad Cow Disease can't really affect you in any way.
Get on with your life.
