Quirks/Habits: Rude, cynical and sarcastic, Valencia tends to look down on those whom she deems unworthy of her time. Excessively stubborn, Valencia is a very defiant to authority figures, to the point of insubordination. She's extremely determined and ambitious and doesn't let anything get in her way. She has a very twisted and sick sense of humor, and a violent temper. Her thirst for revenge can survive for years, so it's not a good idea to offend Valencia. She doesn't stand for people insulting her, her friends, or her beliefs. When she's really mad, she falls into her native Castilian, and that is often followed by a curse. But because of her temper and sharp tongue, few have taken the time to become her friend. Yet beneath her spiky exterior, Valencia is actually a slightly insecure woman. With her friends she is fun-loving and mischievous, and her pranks are quite creative and cunning. Once a person takes the time to get to know her, they realize what a sweet person she is, for Valencia a loyal and trustworthy friend.

First Impression: Mistrusting (especially if you're male), but sweet and innocent
Philosophy of Life: "Men are demon spawn" along with "Heav'n hath no rage like love to hatred turn'd, Nor Hell a fury, like a woman scorn'd." - William Congreve and "Whatever women do they must do it twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily this is not difficult." -Charlotte Whitton
Phrases they use often: "I hate you" "You git" "You're such a nancy boy" "Sod off" "Don't touch me!"

Sibling(s): none
Children: none
Pet(s): Spotted owl- Niña
Family History: Alejandro was born to Eldora Fidelia Garcia Martinez and Renaldo Luis Cortez Aragon in Barcelona, Spain. Alejandro was the second child. His sister Ximena was one when he was born. Though they were only a year apart, the two never got along well. Alejandro bullied his older sister, somehow, and she resented him for it. Both Eldora and Renaldo were supporters of the Dark Arts. Ximena detested the Dark Arts and vowed never to follow in their footsteps. Eldora and Renaldo were disappointed in Ximena's decision and began pressuring her. When she was sixteen, Ximena finally packed her bags and transferred to another Spanish magic school and moved in with one of her friends. She has never returned home. Eldora and Renaldo disowned Ximena, and after graduating, Ximena moved to England and changed her name. Alejandro on the other hand, delved into the Dark Arts. He studied in secret at school, for the dark arts were quite detested at his school. And shortly after graduating, Alejandro joined the Death Eaters.
Elisa was born to Adoncia Dolores Fernandez Covas and Salvador Gaspar DeSanto Castile in Seville, Spain. She was the youngest of seven children. Elisa was well loved by all her siblings, her older brothers watching out for her as children, and her sisters including her in their gossip. Elisa was very close to her father, a genuine daddy's girl, but got along well with her mother too. They never developed the special bond Elisa had with her father, but they understood each other. During the Muggle Civil War (Spanish) there had also been a magical one going on too. Salvador was an auror and during that time had fought against the dark wizards trying to take over the wizarding community of Spain. Unlike in the muggle world, the uprising was stopped and normalcy continued.
Alejandro and Elisa met when they began attending school. Both were students at Dorado Academio de Enchanto in Spain. Dorado was located in Southern Aragon. The school was an old alcazar nestled between two small mountain ranges. Very very selective, Dorado was excessively difficult to get into and all the students at Dorada were either a catera [wallet] or a cerebro(a) [brain]. Alejandro was a catera. Elisa was also a catera, but she was a cerebra as well. Though they weren't placed in the same house, a strange friendship sprung up between the two and the friendship turned to love in their last year. Sadly, Elisa's family was killed by dark wizards that year also. This crushed Elisa, and after graduating, she left Spain, promising Alejandro she would return when she felt whole again.
Four years later Elisa returned. She and Alejandro were married shortly after. They bought a home in Madrid and settled down to raise a family. During the four years, Alejandro had created a name for himself in the Spanish Ministry of Magic, working in International Relations. Elisa joined the department, and the couple soon became diplomats. Valencia was born shortly before them went to their first assignment together. But Alejandro kept his life as a Death Eater a secret from Elisa. He knew she hated the dark arts because of what happened to her family, but for some reason he loved her. But Elisa was hiding something from Alejandro. During the four years she had been away, she had attended the aurors academy in Great Britain, and had spent the rest of the time chasing dark wizards in England. It was when she felt she was ready to track the dark wizards that had killed her parents that she returned to Spain. Elisa began gathering information and started looking for her family's killers. To her utter horror, she discovered that her family had been killed by Alejandro's parents. Not wanting him to know she knew, she destroyed the files.
Elisa sensed that something was wrong, when she started waking up in the middle of the night to find Alejandro gone. But she had no idea Alejandro was a death eater until one day, when Valencia was one, she found a small patch of blood on one of his robes. Thinking he had probably just cut himself, she was about to clean it when she got a very bad feeling, auror instinct. Taking a small sample, she sent it to the aurors to have it tested. It matched with one of the aurors that had recently been mysteriously killed. Elisa tried to pretend she didn't know, but Alejandro could tell she knew, everything. The years he had spent in the dark, had slowly transformed his love for Elisa into a withering hatred. He had reasoned that he stayed with her because he now had a daughter he could train in the dark arts, and Elisa was necessary in raising the girl. But knowing she would turn him in, Alejandro took drastic measures. Taking a bit of Elisa's hair while she slept, he fashioned a Traehefil Charm. It was in the same class as the Epicyclical Charm, but since Alejandro had been in a bit of a hurry and hadn't had an Orb of Thessala on hand, he had had to do with the next best thing. While the Epicyclical Charm killed instantly when crushed, the Traehefil Charm simply crushes the person's heart, not as clean nor as quick. At that point, Alejandro and Elisa's already souring marriage plummeted. She knew that if she tried to leave, Alejandro would kill her, and Valencia would be trained in the Dark Arts. Elisa couldn't have that happen. She tried to keep a pleasant front up for her daughter, but Valencia eventually saw what a terrible man her father was.

Personal History: Valencia was born to Alejandro Enrico Cortez Garcia and Elisa Pilar DeSanto Fernandez in Madrid, Spain. Since the DeSantos and Cortezes were old wizarding families of Spain and Valencia was an only child, she was used to getting what she wanted and was quite accustomed to luxuries. Valencia is very close to her mother, and loves her dearly, but wasn't as close to her father (serious understatement). Valencia's love for collecting stuffed rabbits began when she was a child. Her pet rabbit died and her mother suggested she collect fake ones so she'd always have them. (Little did Valencia know her father had killed the rabbit.) Both Valencia's parents worked in the Spanish Ministry of Magic as diplomats, so Valencia and her parents moved around a lot. Valencia has lived in France, Germany, Australia, Japan, the States, Chile, Denmark, Italy and Egypt. Beginning at the age of five, Valencia began having various tutors, since her parents couldn't enroll her in a school full time because of the moves, and they wanted to keep her close. Valencia enjoyed her studies and soaked up information like a sponge. Because they were in England when Valencia was 11, she was accepted to Hogwarts. During Valencia's second year, her parents were transferred to Zimbabwe, and instead of making their daughter switch schools, Alejandro and Elisa decided to leave her in England. Valencia spent the summer breaks with her father's sister, Ximena Verdez, in London. Valencia's parents kept in touch with her, and sent her lots of gifts for Christmas and her birthday. Occasionally, they even visited. During her seventh year, Alejandro and Elisa were stationed in the Philippines. Valencia didn't really mind her parents being so far away, for she kept herself amused at school (crushing guys' hearts). She didn't put in any more effort than is necessary into her school work, with the exception of Potions. In general, as long as she was passing, she was happy. She'd often put off assignments and projects until the last possible moment, preferring to do... something else. But just because her grades were average, didn't mean she was of average intelligence. Often the books she reads are spell books, particularly old ones. And Valencia has a mean hand at Potions, and it was her best class by far. Divination was her least favorite class. It wasn't that she couldn't figure it out, because she could figure it out just fine; it's just that the professor was a nutter. Living with her aunt had some influence on her, to the point of Valencia deciding to become an auror, for Ximena became an auror after she moved to England. Little did Ximena know her sister-in-law is also an auror, for they never ran into each other and Ximena was older. Ximena never told Alejandro of her profession and asked Valencia to not tell her father. Valencia gladly agreed, delighted to be hiding something from her father.
Few people know that Alejandro was abusive to Elisa and Valencia during her childhood. He was a workaholic and the stress turned it into alcoholism. (At least, that's what Elisa told her daughter. Valencia had no idea that her father was a Death Eater or that her mother was an auror. In truth it was the stress of having Elisa defy him that drove Alejandro to drink. He would try to get tutors for Valencia that would teach her some dark arts, but Elisa would not have it. She knew her husband needed her alive to raise Valencia, since already the daughter and mother had bonded strongly. Valencia never listened to her father, but always obeyed her mother's requests.) Alejandro would often came home several hours late from work, after a long stop at the pub for several rounds. No matter how hard Elisa tried, she couldn't seem to have everything right when her husband finally got home, and he would take it out on Elisa and Valencia. Elisa would try to protect her daughter, but that only made Alejandro beat her harder. This has caused a very deep-seated mistrust of others in Valencia and a hatred for men. This is also what has caused her to be insubordinate and cynical. These two results put together cause her to act the way she does; nice but also nasty. Throughout her school years, Valencia feared her father still beat her mother, yet was glad she was safe in England. She both looked forward to and dreaded her parents visits, for though she loved her mother dearly, she feared her father would hurt her.
In Valencia's seventh year, she got a nasty shock (and a nasty beating on several occasions) from her father. Alejandro revealed to his daughter that he was a Death Eater. Valencia was horrified. The six years she had spent at Hogwarts, and things her aunt had told her, had taught her to hate the Dark Arts and those that practiced them. She had never shared those views with anyone, mainly because of her placement in Slytherin, and a good thing too. You see, Alejandro wanted Valencia to follow in his footsteps and train to become a Death Eater, much to her dismay. Only after threatening to do harm to Elisa and Ximena did Valencia submit to her father's demand. But two people could tell something was wrong drew the truth out of her. Skyla Davenport and Alannah Morgan. These were the only people Valencia ever confided her secret, that she didn't want to become a Death Eater, but had to. The other students training to become Death Eaters never knew Valencia was against learning the art, as the years of abuse had helped her develop the perfect mask. To them she never seemed hesitant or anxious to learn the Dark Arts, just willing. As the final battle drew closer, Valencia became more and more worried. She couldn't fight for the Dark Lord, but she knew that at first she would have to. When the attack finally came, Valencia found herself at her father's side, much to her distaste. After separating herself from the rest of the Death Eaters, Valencia removed her Death Eater robes and showed her true colors. Needless to say, there were some people not happy with her, namely Alejandro. By the end of the attacks, Alejandro was dead, though it was never determined who killed him (though a few people had a good guess). When the aurors finally arrived, Elisa and Ximena were with them. Elisa removed the Traehefil Charm from her late husband and gave it to Valencia for safe keeping. Less than a week after the battle, Valencia keep the promise she had made to her father. She changed her name, removing his name from hers. Valencia had wanted to change it right after her eighteenth birthday, but with her mother and aunt's lives on the line, she hadn't dared to anger her father further.
After graduating, Valencia attempted to enroll in the Aurors Academy. But her application was rejected due to her family history (Alejandro's), short affiliation with the Death Eaters (even though it was unwilling) and slightly lower than required marks (meaning she should have gotten the higher grades she could have). Disappointed and a little bitter, Valencia went home to Spain. While there, she became involved in a feminist vigilante group called the "Sirens." Basically, the Sirens were a group of seven witches that thought the aurors weren't doing a good enough job keeping the dark arts supporters in line. Whenever the aurors couldn't catch a loose Death Eater fast enough, the Sirens would catch him or her themselves, then leave the perpetrator for the aurors to find. It was during her time with the Sirens that Valencia earned her title of "Huntress." Also during that time, Valencia's magic grew stronger. She learned sorcery and developed her elemental magic further. She also went from being left handed to ambidextrous. Valencia spent two years with the Sirens, but at the beginning of her third, she was badly injured by one of the men the Sirens were tracking. She had gone out on patrol alone and had seen the man by himself. Thinking she could take him down, she went in for the "kill." But the man had known the Sirens were after him and had laid a trap, with a couple friends. By the time the other Sirens arrived, Valencia was half dead. She'd been placed under the Cruciatus curse until she had become unconscious (which to the men's surprise had taken a while), then the men had tortured her physically (they hadn't gotten around to raping her by the time the Sirens came). ((Cowards couldn't torture her when she was awake.)) The six other Sirens managed to apprehend the three men, and rescued Valencia. Valencia recovered from her injuries in about six months, during which she stayed with her mother and aunt, Ximena. But she needed longer to heal the emotional scars the encounter had left, which is why she received her letter from the Academia later than the others. Valencia's hatred for men has grown stronger, and is like a fire blazing out of control. Four years ago she could be pleasant towards men, now she's only tolerant toward them. The moment a man pisses her off, her wand is out. With her, there are no forgiveness or second chances now.
Appearance
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 52 kg (115 lbs)
Eyes: Valencia's big eyes alluring and seductive, though she doesn't always mean for them to be. Framed by long lashes, they are a deep hazel. They are haughty, yet mischievous. But when she's angry, they turn a bright green and have a cold glare that would freeze fire.
Hair: Her chestnut brown has been dyed a dark brown and is cut short just below her chin
Face & Complexion: Heart-shaped face with a golden tan complexion
Build: Lithe and a bit curvy, a real Spanish beauty
Defining Marks: A scar at the base of the back of her neck where she struck herself when she fell into a table corner during one of her beatings, a scar running from her left shoulder across her chest, a scar running from her temple to parallel with her mouth on the right side of her face, a burn mark running from her ankle to her knee on the inside of her left leg (she hides all off these with charms)
Dress Style: A stylish dresser, Valencia is always up on the lastest fashions. When not work robes, Valencia likes skirts and peasant blouses, and she favors green, as it brings out the brown in her hazel eyes. Though when she has to get dressed up, Valencia prefers short dresses, that flatter her form and show her slender legs. During her time with the Sirens however, Valencia got rather attached to the color black and wears quite a bit of it now.
Possessions always on this person: Wand, a gold locket with a picture of her mother inside, her mother's Traehefil Charm inside an adamantine shell
Manner of Speech: She doesn't mince her words, but other than that, smooth and silky
Manner of Movement: Valencia moves a little like a cat at night, prowlish yet graceful
Other: Valencia has a habit of wearing long sleeved shirts, from when she used to have to hide the bruises her father gave her
Romantic
Marital Status: Single
Sexual Preference: Hetero
Turn ons: She doesn't think she has any since she hates men (but they're really loyalty, honesty, intelligence, and gentleness)
Turn offs: Stupid prats, nosy gits, self-infatuation, rudeness, jock-types, just being MALE
Past Relationship: Too many to speak off. But they all ended the same, with the guy getting his heart stomped on.
Other: At the moment, Valencia is totally opposed to a relationship of any sort, mainly due to the fact she really hates men. And as she spends much of her time extracting her revenge on men, there isn't any chance to anyway. Maybe someday a guy will be able to get through the adamantine walls she'd constructed around her heart... maybe.

Additional Comments: Valencia is a Seer. Sometimes her visions are small ones, sometimes they're really long. If the vision is very long or very detailed, Val can pass out for hours, even days if it's both long and detailed. While she doesn't really have any control over what she see's, Valencia's learned how to semi-tune the visions when she receives them so she can get the most information out of them.

-----------------------------
Valencia wandered slowly through the hedge maze, a self-satisfied smile playing across her lips. Pulling a small black book from a pocket in her robes, she flipped to a page and tapped it with her wand. The picture on the page was crossed out with a red "X", and the word "Finished" appeared beneath the picture, stamped across some stats. As she turned another corner, she tucked her wand back into her robes, Valencia's grin broadening. And one more man bit the dust. She wasn't called the Black Widow for nothing. Not noticing she had made it to the center of the maze, Valencia turned to the next page to look at her next "target." Ah, this would be fun...
At that moment, Valencia stumbled over a stone. Falling forward, she lost her grip on her "Man Book." It skittered across the ground and came to rest at Natalya's feet. Clammering back to her feet, Valencia quickly walked over to grab her book.
"Eh, sorry 'bout that Nat."
As she reached down to pick up the book, her heart sank like a rock as she realized it was still on the page of her next "victim." Snatching it up quickly, she tucked it into her robes, hoping to the powers-that-be Natalya hadn't seen the picture of Draco staring up at her.
