Appearance: Slim and of medium height, Katriona's creamy complexion is flawless, except for the smattering of freckles across her nose and the star shaped birthmark near her right eye. Katriona's bright sky blue eyes are bright and mischievous, and have a special sparkle when she has something up her sleeve. But when she's angry, they turn a stormy grey, then silver. Katriona's hair is a cinnamon brown, and she keeps it short and loose, just brushing the tops of her shoulders. Though she doesn't look very strong, she is. Eight years under her sensei has given her lightning fast reflexes and muscles of steel, not to mention fists of iron. She can hit hard and fast. Around her neck and underneath her robes, Katriona wears a strange star shaped amulet that had been her mother's. At each point of the star is a different gem: ruby, sapphire, diamond, emerald, topaz, and in the center is a moonstone star. Katriona knows it holds some power, but she has yet to unlock its secret.
Personality: Underneath her disciplined exterior, Katriona's is a bit of a rebel. She does what she wants, when she wants, and no one can stop her without using some force. Though she's stubborn as a mule and defiant till the end, Katriona's a loyal friend and a trustworthy companion. Impulsive and sharp-tongued, she is the motivator of any group. But beneath her tough exterior, Katriona is fun-loving and mischievous. A genius for pranks, she only gets caught when she wants to. A regular frequenter of the school library, Katriona is a very bright person and well versed in all subjects. She also has a twisted sense of humor. And to boot it all off, Katriona also has a fiery temper. She doesn't stand for people insulting her, her friends, or her beliefs. Katriona will go to any lengths to help her friends, even if it means putting her own life at risk.
History: Katriona was born to Marissa and Devlin Mackenzie in Naphtali Valley, a small wizarding suburb of Manchester, England. Her parents were both descendants from aurors, and therefore were able to hide their family well. Strangely, Katriona showed no signs of magic during her childhood. Katriona had been the last child in a family of eight kids: Jean, Rachel, Laura, Samantha, Kimberly, Gwendolyn, Blaine, and Katriona. Had been. Her entire family was killed by the Gadianton Patrol the summer when she was five years old. She had escaped her mother's watchful eye and had run off to play in the woods that surrounded their home. A large plume of smoke and the hated but feared symbol of the Gadianton Patrol hovering over the ruins of her house waited for her when she finally returned home. Even as a five year old, Katriona knew her family was dead. Stopping long enough in the ruins to take her mother's necklace and a few other cherished items, Katriona decided to try and find Hogwarts, which her siblings were always talking about during the summer. Needless to say, she didn't get very far.
Found wandering the streets of a nearby muggle town, she slipped through the cracks of the wizarding world and got caught up in the Muggle Social Service System. For the next several years, Katriona was without a real home. She was shipped from foster home to foster home for years, always managing to scare off prospective families. It was during these years that her magic finally began to manifest, partially attributing to her being shipped around. Luckily, none of the muggles caring for her realized the strange things were because of a witch. Even now they will rationalize magic away; they simply thought she was a difficult child with serious issues.
When she was seven Katriona was taken in by Norika Demonsbane ((the daughter of Cho and Arturo)), a martial arts teacher in London (who also happened to be a witch and recognized Katriona as one). Rika was the one person Katriona couldn't scare off. Rika taught Katriona everything she knew about martial arts and weaponry. In return, Katriona allowed Rika to be her friend. Then, when she was 11, Katriona made the journey to Hogwarts and was accepted. During her first year, it was discovered that Katriona was a healer. She began studying under Headmistress Jatal to develop her power.
Katriona is somewhat new to having a familiar. She met Baset over the summer when she was sitting in the woods. Every year since she began school, Katriona would go back and visit the spot she had been at when her family was killed. As she was sitting there the summer before her third year, she heard a commotion a few yards away from her in the shrubbery. When she went to investigate, Katriona found two dogs attacking a brown and black tabby cat. The cat was doing a pretty good job defending itself, but had still received several deep cuts and bites. Beating off the dogs with a stout stick, Katriona took the cat home and healed it. The cat was unwilling to leave when she was mended and shocked Katriona greatly when she introduced herself as Bastet. Katriona and Bastet have begun forging their lifelong bond and Katriona trusts her feline friend unwaveringly.

Other: As a healer, Katriona hates to see people suffer. She uses her healing through touch. Deep healings will make her tired for a day or so and really deep healing will cause her to fall into a regenerative sleep for a day or so. Small healings don't bother her the least, unless she has to do several in a short period of time, then she'll feel tired. There is one tweak though. She can't heal herself.
