Profile for When Harry Met Buffy (RPG is now dead)

SN: Azurial

Email: [email protected]
Name: Jubilation Lee "Dru is a crazy bishho"
Meaning: "Great joy"/common Chinese last name
Nicknames: Jubilee, Jubes
Age: 22 (b-day Dec 7)
Gender: Female
Wand: N/A
Species: Mutated human (homo sapiens superior)
Powers: Jubilee is a mutant with the superhuman ability to generate what she calls her "fireworks:" energy globules that vary in degrees of power and intensity to the point she can detonate matter on a sub-atomic level. The globules obey her mental control, traveling where she directs them, arranging themselves in balls, streamers, and other shapes, and exploding when she wishes. These combinations may result in anything from a multitude of colorful sparkles capable of temporarily blinding a person to a fairly powerful detonation, capable of smashing tree trunks or metal objects. She can absorb these "fireworks" back into her own body without harm to herself. Jubilee has been described as having the potential to become one of the most powerful mutants in later years. Jubilee's destructive capabilities have increased over the years to the point where she can shred steel easily. Jubilee's power escalate when she is agitated which makes her extremely dangerous in combat as one finds it difficult to stay calm in the middle of a fight. Jubilee is perfectly capable of destroying a sentinel's armor or breaking out of a standard holding cell. Jubilee's weakness however lies in her reluctance to use her powers destructively. She is not a killer. Jubilee has honed her projection and control of her plasmoids to pinpoint accuracy for maximum effect. She can shoot straight down the barrel of the gun, the muffler of a car or into the mouth of a sentinel. Jubilee realizes that armored on the outside does not necessarily mean armored on the inside. This accuracy has probably saved her life on more than one occasion.

Family

Parents: Dr. Chen Lee and Jin-li Jiang [dead] Surrogate father- Logan
Sibling(s): None
Children: None
Family History: Lee Chen and Jiang Jin-li left China in their early twenties, hoping to find a better life in America. Both had been from "black" families and had had a hard time under the Communist party during the Cultural Revolution. Chen worked and saved until he was able to go to college and then medical school. Jin-li found work as a waitress and then later went to college and became an architect. Chen and Jin-li met in San Francisco when they were twenty-five, a few years after they moved to America. They fell in love and were married and Jubilee was born a year later.
The Lee's and the Jiang's had both been middle class familes. The Lee's had been "counterrevolutionaries" and had supported capitalism. The Jiang's had been "landlords" several generations back. Both families were labeled "black" and "enemies of the people." The Communist party made life hard not only for Lee Chen and Jiang Jin-li's parents, but also for Chen and Jin-li. Chen and Jin-li had both been model pupils before the Cultural Revolution, but were turned on by their friends, classmates and teachers because of their class status. Through high school, the two teens were badgered and harassed by the Red Successors (the high school branch of the Red Guard) and officials trying to get them to turn on their families. Neither teen did. They stuck with their families and accepted their status, even though it meant they would have fewer opportunities in life, at least in China.

Background

Occupation: Student, adventurer; former street performer
Affiliations: Generation X; the X-Men
Education: An exclusive high school in Beverly Hills; Massachusetts Academy (Berkshire Mountains, Massachusetts); Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters (Westchester County, New York)
Home: Apartment in Los Angeles
Finance: A trust fund with Landau, Luckman and Lake was started in Jubilation's name by her surrogate father, Logan
Personal History: The daughter of two prosperous Chinese immigrants, Jubilation Lee was born and raised in Beverly Hills, California -- where tourists travel in packs, on the prowl for the famous and soon-to-be-famous, and juice comes in close to a hundred flavors. Jubilee attended an exclusive high school, blossoming into a talented gymnast. However, her parents' stock-market woes sparked a rapid fall from grace that ended abruptly when two hit men murdered Dr. and Mrs. Lee after mistaking them for their neighbors.
Orphaned and impoverished, Jubilee was sent to Los Angeles County Juvenile Hall. There, she learned to defend herself and became rebellious toward authority. Her newfound rebelliousness prompted officials to arrange for her transfer to another orphanage. Fearing that the state would grant custody to her only living relatives in Communist China, Jubilee fled. Seeking shelter at the Hollywood Mall, she survived as a petty thief. However, her shoplifting success was short-lived. Cornered by mall security, a panicked Jubilee manifested her mutant powers. Globules of energy shot from her hands, exploding in front of the police and enabling her to escape. From then on, Jubilee led a lonely life. Her outwardly cynical attitude masked a deeper fear and general mistrust. She earned a living by creating "fireworks" displays for curious shoppers. Meanwhile, Jubilee continued to play cat and mouse with mall security.
Then one day, mall security, having failed to capture her yet again, contacted the novice mutant hunters known as the M Squad. Luckily, several female members of the X-Men--Dazzler, Psylocke, Rogue, and Storm--happened to be shopping at the Hollywood Mall that day. They foiled the M Squad's attempt to capture Jubilee. Fascinated by these women, Jubilee followed them until they exited via a teleportation portal provided by the mutant aborigine Gateway back to the small town in the Australian outback, where the X-Men were then based. Before the portal closed, however, Jubilee jumped in.
She emerged in front of Gateway moments after the female X-Men had left the scene. Gateway verbally welcomed Jubilee, although he had never spoken to any of the X-Men, led her to a tunnel, and pushed her down into it. She landed in the vast underground cavern that stored the bounty of the Reavers, the criminal cyborgs who had previously been the town's sole residents. Jubilee created a living space for herself within the cavern. Although part of her wanted to connect with the X-Men, she did not trust anyone yet, mutant or otherwise. So she kept her presence a secret, watching the X-Men from her hiding place. She became a scrounger, taking food and clothing from the X-Men while they were busy elsewhere.
She finally emerged from hiding after most of the X-Men had abandoned their Australian base and the returning Reavers had captured and crucified the X-Man Wolverine. After Wolverine succeeded in freeing himself, she helped him escape to safety. Over the following months Jubilee accompanied Wolverine in his travels through Asia. He became like a second father to her.
Jubilee finally met Professor Charles Xavier, the founder of the X-Men, when the alien Warskrulls captured both mutants. She became a full-fledged X-Man after the team reunited under Xavier's leadership, although she continued to accompany Wolverine on solo missions.
When the X-Men defeated the techno-organic Phalanx race, Xavier elected to establish a second school where the teenage mutants abducted by the aliens could be trained to use their powers. The Professor also assigned Jubilee to Generation X, because she was the same age as most of the new squad's members. Although at first viewing her reassignment as a demotion, she quickly became the team player with Generation X she had been as a member of the X-Men. Despite her characteristically cynical remarks, Jubilee came to love and trust her new teammates as if they were family.
Unfortunately, in the midst of Mondo's betrayal of the team, Operation: Zero Tolerance hit and Jubilee was captured by Bastion. Throughout the rest of OZT, she remained his prisoner and was constantly being interrogated and tortured by Bastion for information on the X-Men. With the help of Daria, one of Bastion's "minions", Jubilee managed to escape her prison, and was found by Wolverine. When Jubilee arrived back at the mansion she was informed that Generation X had been disbanded. She remained with the X-Men for the following months, but eventually Jubilee left for Los Angelos with Angelo to make her own life. She wanted to be an actress, and starred in several cheap Asian flicks. She eventually realized acting was not for her, and was last seen in Germany with Paige and Monet, working with Banshee as part of the X-Corps.

Her fighting skills combined with her natural agility and her gymnastic ability make her a formidable opponent. More importantly she is unpredictable and almost fearless. She has also received considerable weapons training and is quite handy with a firearm if the need arises.

Writing Sample:
Walking briskly along the tall, green walls, Natalya suddenly found herself to be in the middle of what appeared to be a hedge maze.
Slowly walking around the hedge barrier of the centre, her hands trailed along the greenery, the tiny leaves bumping her flesh. She wasn't really sure how or why she had walked in this direction and ended up here, but she instinctively knew that something quite serious had happened here.
Had she been involved in whatever it was?
The air crisp and cool on her face, she backed away from the walls and stood in the centre of the open space.
The moonlight played upon her skin, lending her an almost ethereal quality.
Briefly her eyes trailed down to her palms. Staring curiously at a long, gashed scar on one of them, she tried to recall how that had happened. . .
Natalya cautiously shifted her hand in the moonlight, studying the way the light played upon the fine sheen of mist on her hand, almost dancing across the scarred flesh. Leaning down, the wind blowing cold across her bare neck, she shivered as she further inspected the mark.
Almost holding her breath, with her free hand she tentatively ran her finger down it and immediately withdrew it as if the digit had been shocked. Flexing the offending hand, her eyes widened as she regarded the mark. It became apparent to her that no accident gave her that wound; it contained magic of some sort, that much she knew.
Letting out a sharp exhale of annoyed breath, Natalya flung her hands away and regarded the moon once again. Try as she might, she just could not remember. She couldn't remember about the scar, she couldn't remember much of anything until a few weeks ago. Yes, she knew most of the people in her house and classes who called her by her name, but other than a brief recognition and a somewhat shoddy mental profile of them, she could not recall interactions or histories. It was rather maddening.
The only thing she could recall was the fact that she would have to soon prove her allegiance to the Dark Lord once again. There was a man, a man who worked in a Muggle division of the Ministry of Magic, that she would have to take care of. For some reason this bothered her, but she could not put her finger on it...

------------------------------------

Jubilee walked through the maze, a globule floating in front of her for light. Honestly, she hadn't been this lost since the first time she was at the institute. Turning yet another corner, Jubilee sighed as she saw another corridor of hedge.
"Geez, this ain't a maze. It's a death trap."
Following the corridor, she contemplated briefly if she should just blow up the globule and blast the maze apart to get out. With a shake of her head, Jubilee threw that idea out. The maze would probably just catch on fire with her still in it. As she turned another corner, she found herself at the center of the maze, amazingly. Seeing an opening on the opposite side, Jubilee started across then stopped as she caught sight of another person. Tensing automatically at the sight of someone she didn't recognize, Jubilee accidentally set off the globule. Taken by surprise by her own ability, Jubilee stumbled backwards and tripped on a protruding piece of stone. Landing on her backside, Jubilee looked over at the other girl. Surely the explosion had gotten her attention.
"Um... sorry 'bout that."
