Malachi
is an old friend, comrade, beer-drinking and slam-dancing buddy from Back
in the Day. Some of what he offers is actual predictions of things he actually
thinks will happen. Other times he's just blowing off steam. It's hard
to tell, sometimes, if he is serious or if he's putting me on. I get visits
now and again. Here are some highlights.

"Look for Columbia to be
the next Viet Nam. They'll sell it to the public as a war to stop cocaine,
but actually it's a war to control the business. Till now, pretty much
all the cocaine has been handled by right-wing thugs, but in Columbia,
there's starting to be some left-wing thugs handling it. That's very unsettling
to the various Mafias, and to the CIA and Military Intelligence. (I mean
look: the Army and the government are nothing but another mafia: the Rich
White Man Mafia...) So anyway... There's a government in Columbia that
isn't good at much except convincing the gringos that they are fighting
the coke cartels, and convincing the coke cartels (which own the entire
country except the part owned by the US military-industrial complex) that
they are keeping the gringos at bay. Meanwhile, in the actual country,
nothing is being done for ordinary people. Sooner or later, you get groups
like Shining Path in Peru, and whoever these guys are in Columbia, who
can do a few nice things for the peasants who support them, say the right
things about freedom, dignity, and Indian rights, finance themselves with
a little coke, and start a Maoist style agrarian revolt!
Now, Watch. Watch what
happens with Columbia. The rebels are gaining ground. A hysterical edge
is creeping into the voices of reporters and "experts" talking about Columbia.
The current US Gummint Policy seems to be that since these rebels are "cocaine
terrorists" or some such, they "Must Be Stopped At Any Cost blah blah blah.
Just Watch.
I told him I'd type
in whatever he said. Silly me! Well, think of it as a form of entertainment.
I do.
