Mating can last anything from a few minutes to over an hour, and will usually be repeated over a period of days. |

After her next skin shed, a nest box lined with damp spagnum moss should be provided. She may spend a number of days just coiled in the box before the time comes for her to lay her first egg. |

If he has not already been removed, this is the time to re-house the male snake. Eggs can easily be crushed and destroyed by two adult snakes trying to squeeze into the same nest box. |

As soon as possible after egg laying is complete, the eggs should be carefully removed to a suitable incubator. They must remain "as laid" and not turned. If stuck together, leave them that way. Trying to separate them could result in the tearing of the shell. |

She is now entitled to a well earned rest and following a further skin shed, should be fed on smaller than usual food items until she regains her strength. |

After 60 to 70 days of incubation, the moment of truth will arrive. Once the hatchlings have cut through the shell with their egg tooth, they will possibly remain in the egg for another day or two. Allow them to emerge in their own time. Don't be tempted to assist in any way. |
