| So you figured out how to do tabs, but then you get to one that says dropped D tuning and you think nothing of it. You begin to play it and the low note always sounds off. Dropped D tuning is not there for no reason. It means you lower the low string down to D. And this is how you do that. Okay you know that if you hold down the 5th fret of the lowest string (E), it is supposed to equal the same sound as the the string right below (A) open (no frets being held down)... Or at least you know that now. Anyway, that is called standard tuning. But if you want Dropped D, you have to lower that low string until when you hold down the 7th fret of the low string, it equals the the next string down (A) open. Do you got it? Keep playing around with that low string, loosening it up to make that E a low D. The first few times it might not sound all that great or you might not get it, but keep practicing going back and forth putting it in standard and then in Dropped D. Now that youve learned this you can now play the awsome Higher song, Hanging by a Moment, One Step Closer, Papa Roach's Broken Home and Between Angels and Insects, and many more. So go get practicing. |
