Here's the written version of the opening sequence. It sucks written, so bare with me, the animated sequence in the game will be twenty times superior.
So, for those of you who like to read, here it is...

Story

6.27.96
Hanford Village
South Biure, Colorado
Evening, about twenty minutes to seven

You, Eric Peters, get ready to leave your family and head on your own. You've got a new job you know you'll love, and most of all, you'll be finally on your own. No more following your dad's rules, no more annoying little brothers, it's all
you now.
As you stuff your last bag into the trunk of your car, your father and little brother, Micheal, come out of the condo. Your father gives you a hug and pats you on the back. You can feel his other hand trembling. He wishes you good luck and tells you to be careful. You say your not sure when you'll be back to visit, but definately will soon. You look down at your brother. You tell him to take care of your room, now his, and not to mess anything up
too much. You then rub him on the head, messing his hair and tell him you'll bring him to the YMCA as soon as you can.
Your friend, Mitch, from inside the car, pats on the outside of the door and alerts you that you don't want to be any more late, or it'll be midnight before you get there. At that you realize he's right, and head to the other side of the car, get in, then start it up. You take one last look at the condo, your brother, then your father. You give a short smile,
then set off for East Biure...

From South Biure to East Biure it takes about an hour and a half if driving the speed limit.
Just entering the outskirts of East Biure you pull over to the side of the road to go to the bathroom. You've been holding it in for the past 15 minutes. You shut the car off and quietly get out trying not to wake Mitch up. You stretch your legs and arms and walk behind the car to go. You look at the scarce trees on the mountain infront of you for a moment. Night has fallen and it's getting cooler, but still comfortable.
You zip your pants back up as you walk to the other side of the road while stretching again and stop at the edge of the steep embankment. You take a second to look down at the lights coming from East Biure from far beyond the woods. The stars fill the sky with clusters of silver glitter and the moon is full and brighter than it has been in the last couple of days. You look back in the direction of South Biure and notice dark clouds.
It must be raining back there, you think.
Something catches your ear. You listen. Coming from the direction of East Biure, it sounded as if people were screaming. At least that's what it
sounded like. You shutter. All sorts of horrific thoughts go through your mind.
Out of nowhere, the high beams of an eighteenwheeler shine in your eyes as it's coming closer at high speed with the steady sound of the horn blowing. You loose your footing trying to get out of the way and tumble down the steep embankment as it speeds by.
You end up face down on the soft grass.
Coughing, you slowly get up and rest on your knees. You look up and see small gravestones, most of them are brocken. It looks like a small, old forgotton cemetary.
You hear a sudden rustling in the woods to your left. You look. You can't see a anything at first, but then you see it.
A face.
A pale, boney, grey face with it's, what it looks like, eyes sunk in the back of it's head...then you notice the rest of the body. It stands there motionless. You're afraid to move.
You notice another one.
Your eyes widen...you now realize what they are.
This can't be, you think.
Another one slowly appears through the darkness.
Soon there are ten or so standing there, loominously staring.
You feel your heart pumping harder and faster and as you begin to sweat, being terrified out of your mind.
As carefully and as slowly as you can, you rise from the ground and stand up, watching them watch you.
Suddenly you swing around and start running as fast as you can up the embankment. As soon as you do, the dead people race after you.
You jump in the car and slam the door shut. Mitch startles awake. He asks you what's going on as he watches you frantically turn the key, but you ignore him. He turns and looks through the back window to see the dead people running up to the car. Imediately as the car starts you force the gas pedal all the way to the floor and shoot down the road. As soon as you turn around the bend, you see a dead person standing in the middle of the road. From first reaction, you jerk the car to the left and careen off the road in mid-air above the embankment, and crash into the woods.

You awaken.
Slowly you lean back in the seat, putting your hand on your head. You've got a terrible headache. Then you remember. You look to the passenger side, Mitch is gone. You lift your wrist up and look at your watch. It's dead. You have no idea how long you've been out or where Mitch is. You step out of the car, and call Mitch's name two or three times. You walk to the other side of the car, you don't see him nor any trace of blood.
Streight ahead you see a glimps of some lights coming from town shining through the trees. You start running towards town. At that, you hear the barking and growling of several wolfs from not too far away. From all directions. You run faster. They are getting closer, now barking louder.
You finally reach the field and you see a gas station diner streight ahead...you make that your destination. Knowing that the wolfs are gaining on you, you try to run harder. They are so close, you feel one nip at your ankle. How you manage to be running fast enough is a miracal.
Running your ass off, you reach the gas station diner, turn the corner to the front of the building, dart past the fuel pumps and into the front glass door and duck and kneel behind the magazine rack, leaning your back against it. At this point you are gasping for air. Suddenly the wolfs pound against the glass door and scratch at the building trying to get in. You look to your right, at the front door, and you can see their paws scratching at the glass, smearing it with mud.
Right then, from above the magazine rack, the window smashes and a wolf comes flying in through the window and hits the shelf infront of you knocking some boxes of cereal and canned foods off the shelf. You frantically jump and stumble to your feet, and run down the hallway all the way to the men's bathroom.
Once you get in, you slam the door and lock it. You hear the wolfs bang up against it and start scratching and barking to get in.
Now you're alone.
