Throughout my High School experience, I was what you would probably consider an "in betweener". My academic record, shy nature, and love for reptiles excluded me from the "In Group" except when it came time for group work or report cards. By the same standard, my appearance, general disposition, and helping demeanor steered me clear of the "Outcasts". And, the accident I suffered earlier in life left me unsure enough in my recovery to keep me from fitting into the "Sports Star" category.
My competitive, confident, outspoken, and passionate nature was often times interpreted as aggression and landed me the character-typed role of the "Queen of Hearts" in Alice and Wonderland. Moving on to a better form of Royalty, my confidence, passion, and fund raising ability won me the honor of "Sweetheart Queen" twice (once in Middle School and once in High School).
In 1997, I graduated within the top of the class and had the honor of delivering a graduation night speech.
Those years remain etched in my mind like they were only yesterday. Let me share with you a few of the most cherished memories. |

1995. This is a picture of me and Martin. He was a foreign exchange student from Sweden and my escort for the night. I was completely overjoyed when I won, not because I would be crowned but because he would be (a wonderful souvenir to take back home). |
