General ALFREDO ASSUNCAO Portugal Brigadier General ALFREDO ASSUNCAO, a cavalry officer, graduate of the Portuguese Military Academy had many important posts during his 34-year Military careers. In particular, he has served in Guine-Bissau during the Portuguese Colonial War. In his academic qualifications he has the Military Academy Cavalry course, Officer Advanced Course, Command and Staff Course, Staff Course, Command and Leadership Superior Course, Military Police and Special Operations Course. He began his career as Platoon Commander, passing by Troop Commander, Group Commander and Regiment Commander. During the period since1992 until 1997, he was the Military Attaché of Portuguese Embassy in Angola. During this time he was the Portuguese Military Adviser for the Peace Conference in Lusaka and member of the Conflicts Verification and Resolution Commission in UNAVEM III. He’s decorated with two Distinguished Service Silver Medal, Infante D. Henrique Medal – Comendador, Military Merit Medal – 2 Class, Exemplary Behavior Medal and Commemorative Medal– Guine. He was praised for National Entities – Portuguese President, Chief of Staff of Armed Forces and other Generals. International Entities – United Nations General Secretary Special Representative (UNAVEM III) Maitre Allioune Beye and UNAVEM III Military Force Commander Gen Chris Garuba. He’s married to Mrs. Maria Gisela Assuncao and has a daughter called Monica Assuncao |
