| Summary |
This book explores various characteristics of birds to show what makes a bird and what doesn't make a bird....a bird. It is a series of proof, disproof that leads to the ultimate conclusion of what, in this world, defines a bird. Produced in 1969, the quality of these pictures are exceptional. This would be one book I would like to see redone, using more modern technology, by the illustrator to enhance the pictures to be portrayed as even more lifelike. There are many pages that have colored backgrounds. While understanding that the illustrator must have sought to portray birds in a background suitable to the various bird types, that style, in my opinion, detracts from the featured bird. The pictures that have a white background, again in my opinion, bring out the birds better. |
