Summary

Very good use of white space. It appears that the backgrounds are water colors, as it looks like brush strokes. Water is depicted with more clarity. White space is used to enhance the picture and give more focus to the characters. The characters, ducks, and in particular, a duckling that falls behind the rest of the family are painted with more detail and clarity than the water and the aforementioned background. This apparent use of three intensity levels of illustrations promotes the focus of the characters.
The story is cute. At one point, the ducklings get stuck and they need help from kids. Kids step in and solve a problem that the mother duck is having. The reader can easily put themselves in the kids shoes and become the hero.

Featured character: Number 10 duckling.
