General Information about SNA

What is SNA?

The Student Nurses' Association is a chapter for pre-nursing and nursing students at MCTC.  An opportunity to gather, have fun, share experiences with other students in nursing, and an opportunity to give and to get advice and encouragement.

SNA is a club for those interested in nursing and in participating in volunteer and community activities.  SNA is affiliated with
Minnesota Student Nurses' Association (MSNA) and the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA.)

The purpose of the Student Nurses' Association is:

To assume responisbility for contributing to nursing education in order to provide for the highest quality health care

To provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interest and concerns

To aid in the development of the whole person, and his/her responisiblity for the health of the people in all walks of life.

The function of the Student Nurses' Association is:

To have direct input into standards of nursing education and influence the education process

To influence health care, nursing education and practice through legislative activities as appropriate

To promote and encourage participation in community affairs and activities towards improving heatlh care and the resolution of related social issues

To represent nursing students to the consumer, to institutions, and other organizations

To promote and encourage students participation in interdisciplinary activities

To promote and encourage recruitment efforts, participation in student activities, and educational opportunities, regardless of person's race, color, creed, sex, lifestyle, national origin, age, or economic status

To promote and encourage collaborative relationships with nursing and related health organizations.
