She smirked at the name, it sounded corny and from the looks of things, fitting as well. "Well, I'll be damned," she said staring up at the enormous mansion. She was told to come here for a place to live, a place to hide, but she didn't like the term "hiding" it made her uneasy, and cowardly. The cab drove off down the long driveway. She pulled her backpack farther up onto her shoulder and her eyes fell on the front door. She saw a young girl standing there with a welcoming smile, she appeared to be in her teens. She wore a short sleeve, velvet red shirt, elbow-high gloves, and a scarf. She also wore black pants and fashionable boots. Tara squinted in the sunlight but lifted a questionable eyebrow to the girl. "Hi," the girl called cheerfully walking towards her with a gloved arm outstretched, "I'm Rogue." The girl had a fairly southern accent, if Tara didn't know any better, she would guess her from Mississippi. "Tara," she replied bluntly, shaking the girl's hand. She peered awkwardly at her gloved hand but chose not to ask questions. "Come on inside, I'll show you 'round," Rogue said awkwardly, feeling the stares from Tara. Rogue took her inside and walked down the hallway, pointing out various things about the mansion. Tara paid little attention. She watched students of the school come running down corridors with a certain disgust. She wasn't fond of children. She didn't hate them, they just annoyed her. Tara felt a strangers eyes upon her. She had expected looks and stares, but this was something she could feel deeper, something she despised. She whirled around waving a hand in front of her. A man was frozen in his pace, unable to move. He had light skin, hairy, a beard that appeared teased at the sides, and a hair cut she thought looked absolutely ridiculous. Still holding her hand out in front if her, she called to Rogue who was by her side staring at this man, "Who's this?" "What are you doing to him?!" she cried almost hysterically, "Stop it!!!" The girl seemed to begin reaching out at her and Tara held another hand up to her, causing her to freeze in mid air as well. Suddenly a strangers voice came from behind Tara, "It's okay, Tara. They won't hurt you." "Don't think I won't stop those wheels too, Charles." He chuckled, "I know, Tara, I know. Let Logan up." "Logan?" "Yes, the gentleman to your left. He won't hurt you. Then you may want to step back from Rogue and release her as well." Tara slowly took a few steps backwards and released both of them. Logan tripped up but caught himself, shaking his head in slight disillusionment. Rogue on the other hand went flying across the hall and slid nearly all the way to the wall. Tara slightly winced and gulped. Her eyes darted back to the gentleman she had first seen, Logan was the name the Professor had said. He was staring hard at Tara, then looked to Rogue, who was currently picking herself off of the floor. "You okay?" he grunted. "Yeah," Rogue whispered out in a slight groan as she stood up. She put a hand to her head and blinked a few times. She then looked up at the Professor and then at Tara, an uncertainty in her stare. "Rogue, Logan, I would like you to meet an old friend of mine. This is Tara. Tara, you've already met Rogue,...this is Logan," the Professor introduced. Tara merely nodded to Logan and gave an apologetic smile to Rogue. Rogue smiled sweetly back in a sort of forgiving tenderness. Professor Xavier spoke up kindly, "Tara, won't you join me in my office, Logan you can come as well. Rogue, Storm is awaiting your return." Rogue nodded and smiled at Tara as a silent goodbye, then jogged off down the hall and into a small, cylinder-shaped elevator. "Cute kid," she said to Charles, and had nearly forgotten about Logan off to the side until he spoke up. "Yeah." Tara whirled her head towards him and narrowed her eyes. She already didn't like him, not just because of the obvious one, he was male, but because he looked at her so fondly. Professor Xavier cleared his throat signaling for Tara to back off and rolled towards a door to his office. The door opened and Xavier entered. Logan and Tara came to the door at the same time. He motioned for her to go ahead of him. She sighed and walked in. Logan's eyes roamed up her long legs, and continued to travel over her curves. She was only a little shorter than him. with short blonde hair and the darkest sapphire eyes. She could feel his eyes on her and it made her uncomfortable. She turned and glared at him, offering fair warning. Logan gave a crooked smile and let out a quick smirk. Tara and Logan each took a seat opposite of Xavier's desk. The Professor looked at each of them and smiled. He began with Logan first, "I know you're wondering why she is here, as well who she is. So I'm going to tell you. This is Tara Sullivan, I've known her since I was a young man." Logan lifted an eyebrow, "What?" was surprisingly his only response. "Tara has the ability to freeze time as well as movements with single beings, mutants or otherwise. It is a form of telekinesis. This mutation also causes her to cease aging for long periods of time, even centuries." Tara was holding her head down slightly, staring out into nothing. Logan looked at her curiously, and she immediately glared back at him, this guy was really grating on her nerves. "So she can stop time, just like that?" he asked gruffly. Tara rolled her eyes at the question, "I didn't come here to be an exhibit, Charles." "Yes, but Logan needs to know what is going on. You two will be working together quite a lot." "Why? Why him? Why.....us?" she asked in near disgust. "The others are not available, that is all you need to know." He answered calmly. "Logan will show you the rest of the school, I have some other....business...to take care of." Tara sighed heavily and glanced at Logan who appeared to be in some sort of trance, sorting through his thoughts. She stood abruptly and walked to the door. She looked behind her once more at Logan and saw that he was standing and speaking quietly with the Professor. Irritated, she took a couple long strides and snatched his arm up. As a reaction he jumped at the sudden pull and three long blades came flying out of his fists. Acting on instinct as well, she froze only his hands in space. Logan glared at her and gave a guttural growl, his eyebrows curved to give him a dangerous look. "Watch it, big boy," Tara said through gritted teeth. "Tara," Xavier warned. Tara obediently let go of her telekinetic hold on Logan's arms, giving a triumphant scowl before storming out into the hall. Logan watched after her, then looked back at Xavier, "Not a very easygoing woman is she?" "Yes, she's quite similar to someone else I know," he replied, eyes on Logan. Logan snickered, shaking his head and walked out of the room after Tara. Tara walked beside Logan. She refused to trail behind any man. They walked quickly and silently down the hall of dorm rooms. 'This way,' came a slight whisper within Logan's mind; it was Xavier, pointing out the way to her room. Logan snickered and Tara's eyes shot him a glance. "What?" she asked flatly. "Nothin' " he answered, a small smile curving his lips slightly. After a few more minutes of walking in silence, Logan asked, "So you're here to pick up chicks, eh?" Tara smirked, "somethin like that." "Anyone in particular?" now he was chiding her sexuality. "Anyone but you," she said coolly. "Uh," was all he replied, quickening his stride. "Suddenly in quite the hurry there," she said keeping her eyes forward as she met his stride. "Something like that." "Who else lives here as an 'X-MAN'?" she asked curiously, making fun of the term. Her tone however gave away that she was uninterested in the topic. "Want me to show em to you?" Logan offered. "If I didn't I would I have said anything?" she asked smartly. "You're becoming a real pain in the-" "Don't CHILDREN attend this school?" "Yeah, but wha-" "Shouldn't curse around children, Logan...it's a bad influence," she rasped as she quickened her stride, leaving Logan behind. He nearly stopped and gritted his teeth in a scowl. He then broke into a run and grabbed Tara around the waist from behind, lifting her up off of the ground. He carried her into a nearby room, which was luckily empty. He dropped her onto a bed in the room. Her wiry frame hit the mattress and fell back so she was lying on her back with her knees up. She glared up at Logan who was standing before her. She noticed he had kicked the door shut behind him. There was only a little dim light coming through the creases in the window blinds. She sat up resting back on her elbows, "Wondered how long it would take me to push your buttons," she said with a dangerously coy smile. "Who the hell do you think you are?" Logan asked disgustedly. He stared down at her and felt a deafening urge to slide between her lifted legs and kiss her lips. To take over her and claim every inch of her. There was no doubt he was very attracted to her. But he didn't understand why she was so bitter towards him. He had hardly said a word since he laid eyes on her. She certainly took his breath away as well as his words. She was his height, give or take a mere centimeter, she had light blonde hair that was cut short, chin-length, icy blue eyes, a sexy complexion and a slender frame that matched her long legs. "Language, Logan. This is a school for CHILDREN not just mutants," she said and began to get up from the bed. Logan's claws shot out from angered fists and just barely nicked her chest, pressing her back, "Look, kid, I don't know who you are or what you are, but I want to know what you-" "Kid?" she said, anger raising her voice. Her eyes darkened and a snarl tickled her lips. "Who you callin kid...." In a flash Logan found himself pressed against the door and knocked to the floor. "You're the baby this time, Logan. I'm more than centuries older than you are. I'm sure you didn't even know that mutations like mine traveled back so far." Her tone was snappy, smart...and sassy. She was enjoying the power she held over him. ......He wasn't. "I dunno-" "And you'll never know," she cut him off coldly. A growl tore from Logan's throat and he charged towards her, claws out. Tara merely lifted from the ground, Logan ran underneath her, baffled. "How do you do that?" "I can control matter....and what's that made of?" she paused for an answer.....when there was none she rolled her eyes, "Come on, even I know this one Logan." His nostrils flared and he spat the answer, "Molecules." "Exactly, therefore I move the molecules of -" "Air to raise your body from the ground," he finished through clenched teeth. "You CAN be taught." "Look, you obviously can't stand me...why?" "You're male," she answered flatly as she lowered back gracefully to her feet. "The dyke from hell," he muttered. "Something like that," she said irritated. "Figures," he said a hint of a smile curling his lips. "What is so amusing?" "That's why you were checkin out Rogue." Tara laughed, "She's not even legal, but she is cute," she said thoughtfully. Tara looked around, "Is THIS my room?" Logan looked the room over himself, suddenly realizing, "Yeah....that alright with you, your highness?" "Bite me, Logan," she retorted. "'Careful what you wish for," he said dangerously. "Yeah, you're gonna get it." Her double meaning wasn't obvious, but it was there.
