My Reaction
I didn't care.
I heard about the fall;
but it fell on deaf ears.
I didn't want to hear
about the tears.
Or all the wasted years.
I just wanted to sleep.

I tried to cry
because I felt guilty
for not caring.
Everyone else
spent all their time sharing.
Red, white, and blue
was what they were wearing.
But I just wanted to forget.

All we saw on television
was the news.
Everyone was sharing
their personal views--
Telling their sob stories,
singing the blues.
I just wanted to see something funny.

I was mad
Because no one
would just let go.
They're gone--just face it.
It's over now.
You can't replace it.
This is life.
What happens happens.
You can't erase it.

I didn't care.
I heard about the fall
but it fell on deaf ears.
I didn't want
to shed any tears,
or waste any years.
I just wanted to sleep.
