Well, thats the traditional explanation of it anyways. Consult the mulleteer dictionary (also found on Katie's site, under KT!Lingo Dictionary) and you'll find a very different definition:
Har.em n. - 1. A large, random array of what a girl finds sexy. Not exclusive to men. Origins include the basic, original idea of a harem. As in, the wish that these are the people/things/whatever that would fawn over us all day, feeding us grapes, and being our whores. 2. Things that a girl finds so funny, that she must claim it for her own. Even if it isn't sexy. Like Jessica's toe or Morgan Freeman's eyebrows.
