Sally was quite a dreamer. Whenever she could remember a dream that she had, Sally would try to learn something from that dream. Now Sally did not believe in psychics or other clairvoyant specialists as such, but she would consider applying what she saw in her dreams for future references.
As for Sally's life, she seemed to have some good things going for her. Sally was in her mid-20's, happily married, and worked a pretty good job. She also was a pretty young lady, with bright blonde hair, sharp blue eyes, and had a nice build.
Sally normally wore contact lenses on her eyes for a mild -2.5 myopic prescription. But occasionally, she would wear her glasses when the contacts would start to dry up and irritate her eyes. The eyeglass wearing moments, though, seemed to be a treat to her husband Steve, who never confessed his liking of eyeglass wearing women to Sally.
Steve was also happy in his marriage to Sally. But although Steve's career seemed to show a lot of promise, he was growing rather frustrated with the seemingly slow progress of his occupational pursuits. This problem, however, would occasionally put a strain on the marriage at times.
Steve was a nice looking man in his early 30's, and he looked rather young for his age. At times, Steve would wonder if having a young look was hindering his career development. Perhaps superiors in the business world didn't have much confidence in him, Steve thought. Also, Steve did have a rather intense look in his eyes, which was often considered to be a bit intimidating to some people. That intense look was sometimes annoying to Sally, but Sally chose to overlook this aspect of Steve.
But as time went on, the intense look in Steve's eyes became more and more potent. It wasn't until then that Sally started having several recurring dreams in regards to her future with Steve. In her dreams, Sally noticed that Steve's career would progress with a lot of success.
One thing Sally noticed in each dream, however, was that Steve was wearing glasses. Sally had never seen Steve in glasses before, but she thought that the glasses looked good on Steve, especially since he didn't seem to have that super-intense look about him when he wore the glasses in her dreams. Sally did not say anything to Steve about this, but she did say something to her close friend Sherry about these dreams.
Sally discussed her dreams one day on the telephone with Sherry. Sherry had actually called Sally on the phone that day. But when Sally picked up the phone, she didn't realize that the answering machine that was connected to the phone in the other room somehow hit a strange glitch. It turned out the the tape on the answering machine was recording her entire conversation with Sherry until the tape had run out and then automatically rewound itself.
Throughout part of the accidently taped conversation, Sally said, "I actually dreamt that Steve's career would improve drastically. But the odd thing was, he was wearing glasses every time I dreamt this. But he looked really good in the glasses. "Maybe I ought to ask him to get his eyes checked," Sally added with a giggle.
Later in the day, Steve came home from work, while Sally was out with one of her friends. When Steve got in the house, he noticed the answering machine blinking, so he played back the tape. This was when Steve picked up that entire conversation Sally had with Sherry about Sally's dreams. Steve didn't want to seem like an eavesdropper, but he was curious and intrigued by what Sally said on the tape. But he wouldn't tell Sally about what he had hear on the tape, realizing the recording took place in error. Steve then promptly changed the tape on the answering machine.
After Steve thought about Sally's taped conversation, he realized that his eyes were becoming rather sore with strain in recent months. He also was aware that night driving was becoming more and more difficult, as he was having a hard time reading signs clearly. It was then that Steve went ahead and scheduled an apointment with an optometrist, but he didn't tell Sally.
Two days later, Steve would have his eyes examined to find out that he was mildly myopic, with a -1.75 prescription. Glasses would be a necessity, though contacts were a possible option, according to the optometrist. But before Steve would purchase any glasses, he would first tell Sally about the news. Pretending not to know anything about Sally's comments about her dreams to Sherry, Steve decided to sound apprehensive when he would approach Sally about his new prescription.
As he pulled Sally aside, Steve said, "Honey, I need to tell you something. I've been having a lot of eyestrain problems lately and I've been having trouble driving at night. So today, I went and had my eyes examined, and they told me I'm a little bit nearsighted. It looks like I'm going to have to start wearing glasses. "Contacts might be an option, but the doctor recommends that I start with glasses. The doctor thinks my eyes might be on the sensitive side."
Just then, Sally, pretending to be stunned, raised her eyebrows in a surprised manner and had a slightly squiggled look on her mouth. "Really" said Sally, with a seemingly surprised look in her eyes. "Wow. I guess it's going to be kind of... different seeing you in glasses. I've never actually seen you wearing glasses before. Quite an adjustment, I suppose," she added with a chuckle.
Steve then interjected by saying, "Well, would you like to help me decide on some frames?" Sally thought about it for a moment, and then with a little smile and wily look on her face, replied, "no, I think you've always been pretty good choosing your own styles with other things, such as your wardrobe. I believe you'll do pretty good on your own."
Two days later, Steve found time to find and purchase a couple of stylishly masculine eyeglass frames. But he didn't tell Sally he was buying the eyewear that day until he called her from his cellular phone at the opticians store--the moment they put the glasses on his face.
Steve got ahold of Sally on her cellular phone just as she was about to leave her job for the day. Said Steve on the phone, "well, it looks like I see things a lot clearer now." "You mean to tell me you just got your glasses today?" said Sally, with a surprised tone in her voice. Anxious to see Steve in his glasses, Sally asked Steve to meet him down by the river at one of their favorite places in a local park.
As Sally waited for Steve, she sat on a three-foot high wall near the river. While Sally was waiting, she nervously dangled her high heeled shoes on the toes of her beautifully pedicured feet. Just then, Steve showed up, wearing his new glasses. He offered up a cool, calm, and friendly "hey" to Sally.
When Steve's image caught Sally's eyes, her eyes opened wide, and her eyebrows raised with enthusiastic excitement. "Wow!" said Sally, as her shoes tumbled off her feet and onto the ground. She then slid herself off the low wall, and said, "you look absolutely terrific."
She then approached Steve with a hug and a kiss, saying, "I'm amazed at how overwhelmingly handsome and sophisticated you look." Steve and Sally then went over to a park bench, as Sally cuddled up next to Steve.
A few moments later, Sally said in a soft tone, "by the way, except for special occasions, such as sports, and so forth..." Sally then paused, and then gingerly whispered into Steve's ear, "don't bother with contacts. You look better in glasses. Besides, you eyes don't look so intense anymore."
As Sally pulled her mouth from Steve's ear, she smiled sweetly and continued in her soft tone, "just trust my woman's intuition. I think great things are going to start happening from here on out. So, if you would, I think you should mainly go with the glasses. You wear glasses now, full time. I'd like for you to accept that. I think your face is destined for glasses."
"Well," said Steve, "could you do me one favor?" "What's that?" asked Sally. "I've always liked it when you've worn your glasses, as opposed to contacts," Steve said. "I guess I've been afraid to say anything, but I do get turned on when you're wearing your glasses." "Really!" said Sally with a surprised expression. "Whew! Perhaps this is some type of omen. Because a few seconds ago, a dry contact just popped out of my eye."
Just then Steve started to look down to help search for it. But Sally said, "don't worry about it. These are disposables and they're actually a day past their expiration date." Sally then pulled the other contact out of her other eye, and flung it into the river. She then pulled a pair of glasses out of her purse, and slid them on.
"I guess you have a deal," said Sally with a sense of relief. "These contacts drive me crazy most of the time anyway." And to start, they had one of the most romantic evenings that they had ever had in a long time.
Neither Sally or Steve said anything to each other about that accidently taped phone conversation Sally had with Sherry. But Sally later called her friend Sherry and explained what happened.
"This looks like a win-win situation," said Sally with zeal. "And you know that whenever I get romantically excited, my feet and hands start to sweat like crazy. Well, when Steve told me he just got his glasses, my feet perspired so much, the closed shoes I was wearing could hardly contain all that sweat. Otherwise, I would have worn well ventilated open-toe shoes that day."
And from then on, Steve's career suddenly started to take off. Within two years, he found better employment and his income tripled. Eventually, Steve and Sally would have identical twin daughters, and later a son. Steve was later able to do well enough financially that Sally could stay at home and raise the kids.
Which was what Sally dreamt of anyway.
