Spud's Socks
So, self striping socks eh?

Step 1 : Find your pattern

Step 2 : Work a number of rows in the main stitch pattern

Step 3 : Decide how thick you want the stripes, and mark the  knitted sample at the where you'd want a stripe to start and end

Step 4 : Unravel, keeping an eye out for the marks on the wool

Step 5 : Measure the distance between the marks, call this a

Step 6 : Multiply this by the number of colours/stripes in your repeat pattern.  eg ...red blue green... has 3 colours/stripes
...red blue red green... has 4 colours/stripes.  Call this b

Step 7 : Get your wool going round in a circle that has a circumference b.  I did this by using two chairs in a line, with their far sides b/2 apart

Step 8 : Tie off the wool circle into lengths of a.

Step 9 : Dye each section its colour

Step 10 : Clean up the kitchen

Step 11 : Lay the wool out to dry

Step 12 : Roll back into balls

Step 13 : Knit

Step 14 : Be smug
