| Ahh Hobbies, well you know about the bikes and boats, and the photography should (hopefully) be apparent(?) So that leaves us... | ||||||||||||||||
| Yup, remote controlled stuff. I've always kind of liked models, Mardave kits are cheap and robust and it's a way of going racing which doesn't break the bank... Or it shouldn't anyway :) If I can dig one out I may add a photo of the glider currently lurking in the loft, it's good fun to play with too! ("My toys, I can't live without my toys"!) |

| Farting about in the water, yeah well I've been messing about in boats and in the water since I was a young idiot in the Sea Scouts. Being an older idiot now I'm slowly getting more confidence *out* of boats and *in* the water:) My master plan over the next few months/years is to become more proficient at snorkelling and to learn how to Scuba dive,. (As I obviously have far too much spare time on my hands...NOT!) | ||||||||||||||||

| One of the things I have discovered is that I have, (suffer from!) slightly negative buoyancy... This means that if I breathe out I sink, this means that swimming has always been *HARD* work for me! I swim up as well as along just to be able to breathe :-( Snorkelling however has been a revelation, finning forwards the water supports me and the snorkel allows me to breathe freely and enjoy:-) These discoveries have explained for me why I always found swimming underwater easy and fun and on the surface a real fight!! |

| As you look at these pictures notice how although I have lungs half full to full my body is still just below the surface... while wearing no weight, still, it makes surface dives easy :-) I have decided, as a result of enjoying the snorkeling so much, to learn to scuba dive. (because the only frustrating thing about snorkel diving is the very limited time you can spend below the surface) I'm told that negative buoyancy is an advantage for Scuba as one requires less weight to sink... hmmmm ;-/. As I learn I will post pictures and information on this site, so hopefully it will give an idea of what I have to go through and in the end why it's worth doing! As usual all suggestions, comments etc will be gratefully received... stay safe out there! Smudge :) |
