Reading/Language Arts -
Cat Book - Story: Max the Cat
*High Frequency Words (HFW)- one, this, likes, give
*Phonics - blend and read short a (ex. cat, map, sad)
*Comprehension and Reading Skills - Using picture clues and Inflectional ending -s
*Study Skills: Parts of a book cover and title page
*Spelling - can, hat, mat ,bad, pan, had + HFW
*Grammar - Recognizing complete sentences
*Writing - write a complete sentence following the rules of capitalization and end mark. Stages of writing will be done during the writing process (prewrite, draft, revise/edit, publish)
Handwriting- left to right directionality when writing; identify guidelines on paper (top, middle , bottom), identify and trace straight and curved lines
Math
* Unit 1 Children will demonstrate their counting skills. Count on will be introduced as a strategy. Also, children will compare numbers using the terms more, less, and about the same.
Religion
Chp. 1 - We will learn about God as creator of everything and explore ways we can take care of them.
Science- Name classification of things (living and nonliving) and differentiate them; name characteristics of living things
Spanish- Greetings (Hola!, Adios!)and introducing oneself "Me llamo_____"
