Within the forest an old pixie sits on a large mushroom looking down at the young wide eyes upturned awaiting his words... he always enjoys telling the stories of the gods and so begins...
In the times of old the gods created the Shadowmere, their power and mercy guiding and nurturing the mortals that lived there. As time passed they worked upon the races evolving them into what they wanted or needed and the population increased quickly. There were many that embraced the ways of darkness and many that embraced the ways of light, and a great war erupted between the gods, they used the mortals as their weapons and many died. In the midst of it all were kingdoms and peoples that chose neutrality and their spirits were lost in such a world of black and white. They were being destroyed by both the darkness and the light and struggled to remain in their beliefs. Out of the need of these people Nalai, Guardian of Nature, was born. A goddess of Neutrality, embracing both the good and evil of the world striving to bring a balance and to educate those that would wish to eliminate all others that oppose their beliefs... The ancient one pauses as he looks on the young pixies gathered, he knows the question about to be asked. A young female with large bright eyes speaks softly.. "master how was the great goddess born? Did she have a mother and father such as we?" He chuckles and continues on with his story... I do not know if our goddess does indeed have a mother and father, I believe that she was born completely of need and of magic, but I cannot be sure... From the great waters to the East she came, raising out of the seas the salt upon her silvery skin. She entered the forest and began to work her magics... the animals of the forests came to her as did the dryads and nymphs, she clothed herself in purest silver as the spirits of the forests combed her lovely hair caring for her needs. She grew strong quickly ready to come to the aid of those that needed her. A golden eagle became her faithful and she sent him out into the world to bring her news of the actions of the gods and peoples. Sending out a call for all neutrals to meet within a grove, not knowing the source of their calling and unable to disobey they came. She left the forest and came before them, she spoke and they knew they had found the one for which they longed, they fell to their knees and worshipped her. She pledged then to always and forever watch over them... A young male interrupts the story with an impatient question... "master, what of the war? Let us hear of this... what happened, did she fight too?" The old one chuckles giving a soft reprimand before continuing "Patience lad! I am getting to it.. don't rush the teller or you might miss the tale..." Aye the Lady was forced to fight, but she only fought to save her followers, both the dark ones and those of the light would attack them thinking they be for the otherside and so she would cast great spells of destruction, against them... during the trapping of the dark gods Nalai was pulled upon for the gods of light feared her neutrality that it would breed evil, she fought desperately and managed to escape such a fate, but she was weary and needed much rest... she retired to the forests once more being cared for by the animals and spirits, the dryads the nymphs and the pixies... A young female with wild curls raises her hand her eyes wide. He looks down and smiles... "yes little one?" "Did you help our goddess to heal master?" He chuckles and shakes his head, "Truly lass I was not even in the makings for this world" All the children's eyes go wide and whispers and gasps are heard one of them pipes up "but master... you are sooo OLD! I would not think there could be any older than you!" He laughs heartily and shakes his head The old one sits back and looks down at the awe stricken faces, chuckling he shoos them off to go and play in the forest streams... Nalai is a tall and stately goddess, her form graceful and flowing. She wears a gown of pure silver that ripples about her as if always stirred by a slight breeze. Her long bluegreen tresses float about her slightly, cascading down her shoulders and back. Her doe eyes are a matching shade of bluegreen flecked with silver and are framed by long black lashes... a golden eagle is often seen with her, either coming or going as a messenger or spy. The two forms she most often takes on is that of a large silver winged eagle or of a large mountain cat with thick silvery fur, her eyes remaining bluegreen and silver flecked... She generally keeps herself in a neutral stance in all matters of mortals though does find amusement occasionally in there acts of random violence, and has found that she does have a few favorites here and there in all areas of faith. |
