CHAPTER 6: THE PLOT THICKENS...
**************************************************

Serena nodded. "I'll lend you the power. But after that, I want some explanations." Relief flooded the young immortal's features, and with the words: "Saturn Healing Crystal Power!" She changed. A bright silver light surrounded her suddenly naked body, showing nothing but her black silouhette. Great plumy wings appeared at her back, stretching out to their full length before disappearing. Silver threads of light wrapped themselves around her body, seemed to harden, and broke away to reveal the scout dressed in a gown similar to the one Serena had worn as a woman. The only difference being where Serenity's edging had been gold, Terra's was silver. She held a huge silver crystal, which glowed brightly in the presence of it's mates. Serena gaped widely in astonishment at the resemblance. "I am your sister, Serena. I, and Hohtaruu. We were stolen as children by someone who wanted to steal our powers, but the seal of the moon kept us alive. We were never found..."

Serena saw herself as a child in the Silver Millenium. She sat in her room, done entirely in white and blue, with her two sisters, a girl with long, silver hair, and one with short, black hair. They were giggling nervously as they whispered secrets to each other. "Serena, let me brush your hair?" Her silver-haired sister wheedled. The blonde girl wasn't old enough to wear her hair up in the fashion of her mother, two long, shimmering ponytails topped with small balls of hair. It was custom for girls in the castle to wear their hair in a certain manner depending on age. The black-haired girl was the youngest, therefore she wore her hair down and short. The blonde, and future queen, was the middle child, and allowed to wear her hair long and free, sometimes adorned with flowers, if it was a special occasion. The oldest was the sister with the hair of fine silver wire, who wasn't quite old enough to wear her hair up in the double fashion, wore her hair up and long, topped with a spiral of braids and sapphire accents. They were inseperable. They did everything together, including sleep together. So they shared a beautiful bedroom at the end of a gold-veined, white marble hall. As she brushed her younger sister's hair, Terra spoke to her. "You know that I always love you. I always will." Turning around, the yellow-topped girl of ten saw tears in her sister's eyes. Hugging her fiercely, the elder of the two continued, "My dreams have told me that Hohtaruu and I will be leaving you for a long, long time, and no matter what, I want you to be brave, for I also know we will meet again." Terrified of losing her more mature counter-part, Serena asked meekly, "But are sure your dreams aren't wrong, just this once?" Smiling at her, Terra replied, "I'm sure." And continued brushing the young girl's hair.

A few short weeks later, her sisters disappeared, and as a sign of defiance, she stayed up late that warm night. Alone in uncle Jasper's rose garden, amid Terra's favorites, white, Serena made a promise to the stars that would be fulfilled thousands of years in the future. "Terra, I promise to be strong. I'll go on and be brave," At this a sob tore it's way from her small chest. "But I swear to the heavens. One day, when I'm queen, I'll go out and find you and Hohtaruu, and bring you home. And...we'll...be sisters...again!" As her sobs became to much to bear, she turned and buried her face in the roses, oblivious of the scratching thorns, and cried as a shooting star flashed overhead...

The silver sheen slid off of Serena's eyes again, and she looked up into the eyes of her long-lost sister with tears. "Ter...?" At a nod, she jumped up and hugged her tightly, sobbing into the velvet softness of Terra's dear shoulder. Wrapping an arm around Serena's tremoring back, she said consolingly, "Yes, I love you too, Sera, but we should help poor Tar first, don't you think?" Sniffling, Serena smiled at their old pet names and said, "Sure, why not?" She lifted her unbound faceted crystal above her head, and shouted "Silver Crystal Healing Power!" Her voice full of love. A similar changing process came over Serena, with similar end results, except golden edging. Nodding simultaneously at each other, they lokked at the scouts that stayed pressed near the door. "Girls, would you help us?" And, one by one, they changed. "Mercury Cosmic Power!" Cried Ami as she lifted her blue transfomation pen into the air. Blue flashes of light erupted from the small sapphire and wrapped themselves around her, hardening then falling away to reveal a more mature, taller Sailor Mercury. "Jupiter Cosmic Power!" Cried Lita as she too, changed. As the glyph of Jupier shown in the small emerald of her pen, green light shot from it and spread out, putting her in the center of a circle of rings that would remind you of an atom of some sort, with a scout as the nucleus. The light closed in, hardened, and she became her more mature self. "Mars Cosmic Power!" Cried Rei as she transformed. Rings of bright red formed around her before closing in and falling away. Last but not least, "Venus Cosmic Power!" A banner of yellow star light spiraled around Mina from her pen before crystalizing and disappearing. All of the needed transformations complete, they formed a semi-cirlce around Serena, Terra, and Trista, who stood at the foot of the bed. Reaching their arms out to each side With their palms flat and vertical, fingers closed, they called the powers of their elements. "I call upon the power of Mars... I call upon the power of Mercury... I call upon the power of Venus... I call upon the power of Jupiter... Moon Crystal... Saturn Crystal... Time Crystal... Cosmic Healing Action!!" Thet all cried the last as one. A light as never before seen filled the woods and burst out upon the fields and linger, giving everything new life, and the energy of youth as the cry echoed in the ears of their silent watcher. When minutes passed and it slowly faded away, the slender, pallid scout upon the bed was still engulfed in the quicksilver illumance. After it disappeared, a small, frail voice asked, "Terra...?"
