A Happy Reunion
#7

Inu Yasha cocked an eyebrow in Hakaris direction as he got to his feet. She was too damn uppity for her own good he thought. Kagome jumped and cheered when Hakari came down the hill to where they were and showed them the jewel. Kagome was just about to call out to Sango and Miroku when they heard a cry.

Miroku! cried a distressed Sango. Oh God, Miroku!

Everyone rushed over and began to move Miroku off of Sango and started to lay him on his back on the grass.

Wait! Dont lay him on his back! Dont lay him on his back! Hakari exclaimed.

Inu Yasha turned his head and looked at her angrily. Shut Up girl! We have to help him!

Yeah, duh! Thats why you cant lay him on his back! she said. Pick him up and carry him back to the hut. Well see what we can do for him there.

Inu Yasha picked Miroku up and put him on his back like he always carried Kagome. He began to slip but Sango caught him and helped Inu Yasha carry Miroku up the hill.

Kagome, do you have any bandages or anything? Hakari asked.

Yeah, answered Kagome. Im not sure how much though, definitely not enough to last for any extended amount of time. Ill have to make a trip to our time to get more soon.

Let me come with you. Miroku wont last long in these primitive conditions, we have to get help, and soon.

What kind of help can we possibly get? We cant exactly take him to a hospital, hes not a registered citizen of anywhere in our time.

Hakari was silent for a moment as they continued to make their way to the hut. Villagers gathered around their little group. Some of the women cried out and many asked how they could help. Kagome told them he would be fine and they could take care of it. After the crowd still stuck around Inu Yasha finally stepped out and threatened to start hurting people if they didnt get theyre asses out of there. While the others went inside, Hakari stayed outside on the steps thinking about what she could do to help Miroku.

Kagome? asked Inu Yasha.

What is it Inu Yasha? Kagome asked, having just finished bandaging Miroku.

What are we going to do with that girl, Hakari? I do not feel like babysitting another human.

Kagome laughed and said Thats where youre wrong Inu Yasha, shes not human. And if I recall correctly, she saved all of us earlier, and she really wants to help Miroku. I think she should stay, well need the help since all the Shikon shards are bigger now.

Inu Yasha just humphed and stalked out of the door to find himself face to face with Hakari.

So, you dont want me around then? she asked him in an expressionless voice.

Erm, well, its not that He sighed exasperatedly. Well, at least shes not crying like Kagome probably would. He sighed again and said in a sulky tone of voice Fine, you can stay, I dont care. But you had better not cause any trouble or get in the way!

Really! Youll let me stay?! Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! she exclaimed and hugged him happily.

Er, rightcould you, uh, let go of me? Inu Yasha said, not sure about this show of emotions.

Oh, right. Heh heh, sorry! Hakari said and grinned again.

Actually we kinda need you to stay. Inu Yasha said

Yeah, we do. Kagome said as she stepped forward and smiled at Inu Yasha. She had watched what had just happened from just inside the door. She sat down on the stairs and invited the others to do the same. Kagome explained to Hakari what had happened right before she had shown up and about the spirit and everything it had said.

Meanwhile, inside the hut, Sango sat beside Miroku who was laid out on a mat with his back and torso wrapped in Kagomes bandages she carried everywhere.

Oh Miroku, how could you have done something so stupid? Sango said as she brushed his raven black hair out of his face. He was so pale she thought to herself. His breathing was shallow too, and it was all her fault, and if he died, that would be her fault too. She began to cry silent tears. A few landed on Mirokus face, making his eyelids flutter.

Poor Miroku, its all my fault. I should have been faster, my lifes not worth you getting hurt.

She sobbed as more tears rushed to her eyes.

Oh, I dont know, I think it was worth it. Miroku whispered.

Miroku! Sango cried with relief and threw herself at him in a grateful embrace.

Miroku winced in pain as pressure was put on his back.

Oh God Miroku! Im sorry! Sango quickly apologized and released him.

No, its alright, Im fine. He winced again though and slowly turned over onto his stomach, exposing his back. Sango gasped at the large amount of blood that had already leaked through the bandages.

Oh no! Miroku, youre bleeding again! Ill get Kagome! Kagome! Come quick!

Kagome looked towards the hut at Sangos shout. Kagome, Inu Yasha, and Hakari ran up the hill. Hakari, who had quickly passed Kagome, stopped and grabbed her by the wrist and dragged her along, Kagomes feet flying out behind her.

Sango! What is it!? asked Kagome.

Its Miroku, you have to help him! Sango cried despairingly.

Hakari and Kagome looked at each other. Kagome had a look of hopelessness in her eyes after seeing the amount of blood on Mirokus back. Hakari stepped forward and said, I know how I can help Miroku.

Oh Hakari! How? asked Sango and Kagome.

Yeah, enlighten us wench. Said Inu Yasha, putting on a face to hide his fear for Mirokus life.

Oh you bastard! Dont you dare call me- only a groan of pain from Miroku kept her from attempting to beat the crap out of Inu Yasha. She took a deep breath, cracked her neck and continued with what she was saying. Well, you see, my mom is a nurse and does this kind of stuff at her job in the hospital all the time. she explained. So we could take him back to my time, and bring him to my house and let my mom help him. My parents summer home isnt far from where Kagome lives and my parents will still be here in town looking for me. she said. They must be really worried too, but I couldnt just leave. Ive got to help them. Hakari thought to herself.

Well, I guess we dont have much of a choice. Lets grab Miroku and go, we shouldnt wait. said Inu Yasha.

Kagome nodded and grabbed up her bag, ready to go. Sango stood and grabbed her weapons as well as Kirara. Hakari stood up but then stopped and looked down at her now perminately blood stained clothes and the gunk all over her from the battle a couple of hours earlier.

ErmIs there a river around here or something? she asked everyone in general.

Theres one right over the hill, why? asked Sango.

Ill be right back. Hakari said and stepped out the door. A minute later there was a loud splash and the sounds of vigorous scrubbing. Hakari came back dripping but much cleaner than she had been a few minutes ago. She came into the hut to find the others talking.

Oh Hakari, youre back. said Kagome We were just thinking about how Sango and Miroku were supposed to get through the well, we already know you, Inu Yasha, and I can go through, but Im not so sure about the others

Well, what about this? Hakari asked, holding forth the shard of the Shikon no Tama. Isnt this how you first came through Kagome? By using one of these?

Ha! Thats right! Kagome was able to go through the well because of the Jewel. explained Inu Yasha So in theory

Sango and Miroku will be able to go through if they have at least a shard of the jewel! exclaimed Kagome.

Well then, what are we waiting for? asked Sango.

The group walked out the door and headed into the forest till they came to the well. Sango took Miroku from Inu Yasha and put one of his arms around her neck to carry him. Hakari grabbed the jewel fragment from her pocket and handed it to Sango.

Alright, everyone ready? asked Inu Yasha and everyone nodded. Alright, Ill go first then Sango and Miroku. Kagome, you and Hakari come last.

Inu Yasha ran and jumped into the well. Sango walked up to it with Miroku and looked down and after a second, dragged herself and Miroku to stand on its edge and jumped in.

Meanwhile on the other side Inu Yasha waited impatiently for the others. A second later Sango and Miroku landed in the well, sprawled out and Sango looking a little shocked. As soon as Inu Yasha had gotten them up Kagome and Hakari showed up.

Thatwas amazing. A still somewhat shocked Sango said. Is it always like that?

Yep. Now lets see said Kagome looking around for something. Darn, looks like Grandpa took the ladder out. Oh well guess Ill just have to shout and hope he or mom hears. GRANDPA?! CAN YOU HEAR ME? GRANDPA?!

Eh? Kagome, is that you? What am I saying, of course it is. Listen Kagome, hurry and get up here, one of the visitors daughters have gone missing said an elderly voice.

Thats kinda hard to do without a ladder grandpa! And yes I know theyre missing theyre daughter! Now hurry up and toss down that ladder! said Kagome.

Humph! Impertinent child! the old man muttered to himself but tossed down a rope ladder none-the-less.

After they had all hauled themselves up over the edge of the well Kagome threw herself into an explanation of everything that had happened as of late for her grandpa. (Shes had to do a lot of explaining lately, hasnt she?)

A voice from outside the well house called to Kagomes grandpa and a handsome older man with dark brown hair stuck his head through the open doorway.

Mr. Higurashi? Any sign of her Hakari! Youre here!

DAD!

The two ran to each other and Hakari was locked in a hug from her father. Another head appeared in the doorway, this time a beautiful womans.

Oh Hakari honey! We finally found you! cried the woman, who had black hair.

Mom! Hakari ran forward and warmly embraced her mother.

Oh my poor dear, where have you been? Hakaris mother asked her.
