Who are?

Smooth Ride is a band that fate somehow slapped together. Formed in November of 2001 as a 3 piece, Matt, Mark and Kenny were the One Nite Stands. They played together for a while doing a few songs until one day the PA blew up..namely because it was really crappy, so Kenny got on the wire to his friend Chris, and had him join the band as a second guitarist..and a guy with a PA. At that point in time, Kenny's fiance Heather was playing with us as well as a vocalist.

Christmas came and practicing stopped to oh about March...when a show came up and the band needed to do something....but at that point in time, Kenny and Heather were heading to Iceland and were unable to do the show...so Matt, Chris and Mark decided to play it anyway. They had roughly 2 weeks to create a set of songs and be ready for the show....and they did just that. They also enlisted the help of Nick to play second guitar. The show was played really well considering the amount of time put into it.

Kenny came back and talked smack about the ability of other members and always had no time to practice...so Chris, Mark, Matt and Nick decided to continue doing their own thing and decided at the Homegrown show at Fletcher's that they'd keep their music going and get rid of Kenny and Heather. With that, the One Nite Stands, officially became Smooth Ride, in May of 2002.

After that, we recorded a demo of Been Talking About Ya shortly thereafter and in July, rerecorded a much more professional Been Talking About Ya, which is to be found at shows, at least for quite a while. The band is now working on playing shows and writing new music all the time.

The music, although diverse, comes together as each member of the band brings their different backgrounds of music in blending into what Smooth Ride dubs "a rollercoaster of rock", it makes for an interesting listen and hopefully will be enjoyed by people as the band enjoys playing and writing it.

Where did the name "Smooth Ride" come from?

While recording in Chris' basement we found some of his unique hiding spots for his porn collection (so mommy can't find it). For example in the bass drum and underneath ceiling panals. But one video stuck out with the title "Smooth Ride".
