How to make Pajama Pants
For those with beginning to intermediate sewing skills

After completing this lesson, the audience will be able to make pajama pants for themselves and their friends!

If one has completed the lesson properly, they should have a baggy and
comfortable pair of pajama pants.

Materials:
1.fabric
2.scissors
3.measuring tape
4.thread
5.sewing machine
6.elastic

Procedure:
1.take measurements of:
a.hips(the widest part, not where you wear you pants!!)
b.out seam(from where you wear your pants to the floor)
c.inseam (from crotch or where you want the crotch of your pants to be to the floor)
d.waistband( a note: measure where you wear your pants which is not nessesarily your waist)
2. create a pattern using measurements ( pattern is of one half of a leg)
     a. draw a plan of the pattern like this:

     b. calculate and label pattern measurements based on the measurements you too earlier:
          1. take the hip measurements, add about 12 inches( for bagginess and comfort) divide by four( front
and  back of each leg) and add 1 inch( for seam allowance).  Example: my hip measurement is 36 inches.
36+12=48      48/4=12      12+1=13
write this number on the top of the pattern, as shown.

   c. add 4 inches to the width of the leg like so:
d.add 3 in. to your inseam measurement . ex: 28+3=31.
   e. add 5 inches to your outseam mesurement ex: 32+5=37
4.fold fabric so that the right sides are together and draw pattern on wrong
side
5.cut pattern out
6.repeat for other leg
7. sew inseams of both legs *( remember!! when you sew to sew with right sides fo the fabric together!!)
8. sew out seams
9.sew legs together
10.flip pants right side in and hem bottom of legs by folding the edge inside and stitching it down.
11.sew waist band by folding the edge over and folding it over again( leaving a "sleeve" for the elastic to go in) ans stitching it down (but not all the way you must leave a space to put in elastic.)
12.add elastic( make sure it is flat an not twisted) sew it together and  and complete the sewing of the waistband.

Finished!!
