| Just in case you care, here's a little info. about who I am and what I do. I am a father of two and a husband of one (THE one, if you know what I mean). Without my wife, I would not be where I am today (wherever that is), and I probably wouldn't be playing guitar. I am a self taught musician who didn't begin playing guitar until the age of 23. My mom has been the church organist since before I was born. My dad sings in the choir, my brother is a very talented semi-professional drummer in Santa Cruz, and my grandfather played piano, guitar, bass, and harmonica. My wife studied vocal performance (she sings opera) in college. I guess you could say I have music in my blood, I just didn't tap into it until later in life. I grew up listening to the 'hair metal' bands of the 80's. I had always admired those `crankin' guitar solos. The musicianship was excellent, and the style of music was very exciting and powerful, even though the behavior of the band members was usually excessive and silly. I was influenced by guitarists such as: Ed VanHalen (surprise!), Andy Timmons, Reb Beach, Steven Vai, Joseph Satriani, Dennis Cameron(Angelica), Oz Fox (Stryper), Tony Palacidios, Dan Huff, and many other shredders, too many to mention (they're probably the same ones who influenced you too). Now, my desire to see God honored through excellence in the arts in the church. He is an excellent God, and He does everything well. I always want to the best I can with what He's given me. |
